As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but notice the renewed buzz surrounding EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II. The combination of the annual May the 4th Star Wars celebration and the captivating TV series Andor seems to have rekindled interest in this 2017 gem. Fans, including some famous faces, are even rallying for a sequel, petitioning EA left and right. However, I’m afraid we might just be dreaming about another installment.
According to Mats Holm, a former live producer at DICE, he doesn’t anticipate that Battlefront 3 will be announced at this current point in time. However, he mentioned that there are individuals discussing it. Regarding the possibility of returning the team responsible for Battlefront II, Holm stated that it would be difficult due to the fact that many members, including himself, have moved on from DICE and are now scattered across different locations.
Hey there fellow gamers! I’ve got some news that might catch you off guard. Despite the massive success of Battlefront back in 2015 and its sequel in 2017, which together managed to sell an impressive 33 million copies, it seems like we haven’t heard any announcements about a new game yet. Now,
Previously employed at Paradox, Holm proposed an idea for the future of Battlefront series. He suggested that Electronic Arts (EA) should re-release Battlefront II on the upcoming Xbox and PlayStation consoles around 2027-2028. If this remastered version proves successful, the team could then move forward with Battlefront 3, according to him.
As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you that while DICE is busy crafting Battlefield 6, don’t get your hopes up for a new Battlefront game anytime soon. If we’re lucky enough to see one in the future, that is.
The Battlefront series first appeared in 2004 with a third-person shooter developed by Pandemic Studios before they closed down. A follow-up, Battlefront II, was released in 2005. It was rumored that there was another game under development, but it allegedly didn’t make it to completion just steps away from the finish line.
In 2024, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection hit the market, bundling up the pair of older games. Unfortunately, it was met with poor reviews from critics because of numerous glitches and other problems.
Even though Battlefront 3 hasn’t been confirmed yet, there are several exciting Star Wars games on the horizon, such as Star Wars Eclipse by Quantic Dream.
