Don’t Believe Those Titanfall 3 Rumors You’ve Heard

A recent report surfaces, suggesting it has fresh insights about Titanfall 3; however, there’s a deeper narrative behind it.

According to Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, who spoke on GameBreaking News today, fans may need to adjust their expectations for a new Titanfall game. It’s been confirmed that within the studio Respawn, there is a secret team currently working on a different project. Remarkably, this team has been experimenting with titan-related gameplay elements, as reported by Grubb.

Grubb mentioned that any potential project stemming from this experimental team might still be several years off. Furthermore, it’s possible that the work produced by this group may not ultimately reach a public release – such occurrences are often an integral aspect of the creative process.

“Don’t get your hopes up for Titanfall anytime soon,” Grubb said.

According to rumors, Titanfall 3 was reportedly very close to being finished with both single-player and multiplayer features. However, as of now, Jason Schreier (Grubb) has stated that he’s certain there won’t be any announcement of the Respawn secret project in 2025, and no launch is expected in 2026 either.

In 2023, it emerged that Steve Fukuda, a long-time member at Respawn Entertainment, headed a secretive team, code-named ‘skunkworks’, who were developing a mysterious new project. The specifics of the game have yet to be disclosed.

Fans of Titanfall have eagerly anticipated a possible follow-up to Titanfall 2 for quite some time now. Previously leaked information suggested that EA had shelved a project, “Titanfall Legends,” which aimed to merge aspects from Apex Legends and Titanfall.

2014 marked the debut of Respawn Entertainment’s first game following the departure of Vince Zampella, Jason West, and other Infinity Ward team members to establish a new studio. This groundbreaking release was Titanfall, which garnered much success and led to a sequel, Titanfall 2 in 2016. However, the Titanfall series ended with these two games as Respawn subsequently focused their efforts on Apex Legends, a battle royale game. Ever since, fans have clamored for a fresh Titanfall installment, but so far, no such project has been announced. It’s worth noting that Apex Legends shares connections with Titanfall, and certain elements from the latter have made appearances in the former.

Regarding the projects that Respawn Entertainment is currently handling, it’s clear they are collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new Star Wars-themed turn-based game. This collaboration will be formally revealed on April 19. Additionally, there are expectations that Respawn is also developing the next installment in the Star Wars Jedi series. Previously, their unannounced Star Wars First-Person Shooter was unfortunately canceled in the year 2024.
