As a supporter, I find myself appreciating the unique situations people have when it comes to enjoying their summer vacation. Unlike the usual pairing of June with relaxation, many adults often find themselves hard-pressed for time off. However, Donnie Wahlberg, the talented singer and actor, is making the most of his last day off before a hectic second half of the year. But let’s not forget that this hiatus might pave the way for exciting updates in the 2025 TV schedule, particularly for devoted fans of Blue Bloods.
Wahlberg took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of himself golfing and enjoying his much-needed time off. Alongside the photo, he wrote, “Last day off for a very long time,” and though it might come across as an unfortunate observation, given how much he’ll be working, it’s actually quite ideal for both fans and the actor/musicain himself, since that means that he will be as busy as ever with both music and TV. Check out that swing posture.
So what’s actually on Donnie Wahlberg’s upcoming agenda? Let’s take a closer look.
New Kids On The Block Is Taking Over Las Vegas
Starting this month, I’m excited to share that New Kids on the Block will be launching their Las Vegas residency, running through early July, with additional dates in November and February. Kicking off on June 20th, you can bet that my bandmates and I are either already rehearsing or getting ready to do so soon. It’s amazing to see this group still thriving, nearly 40 years after we first came together, and I’m just as passionate about it today as I was back then.
Blue Blood’s Boston Spinoff Will Begin Filming
Beyond his group’s residency, Mark Wahlberg is set to reprise his role as Detective Danny Reagan in the upcoming Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue, this autumn. His ability to switch between singing with New Kids on the Block and filming sets is quite impressive, especially given that he’s managed to maintain this balance for a considerable amount of time. This dual role will persist, as some of his NKOTB residency dates may coincide with filming schedules. However, such multitasking is nothing new for Wahlberg.
Despite my ongoing concerns about Wahlberg’s relentless work ethic given his long-standing history, I’m eagerly anticipating the array of projects he has lined up in the coming months. With the residency and “Boston Blue,” Wahlberg is undoubtedly living his dream, and fans are sharing that excitement with him every step of the way.
Currently, no specific release date for “Boston Blue” has been set, however, an update for fall TV has been given, indicating it will air this year. Appropriately, it’s scheduled to take the 10 p.m. ET Friday slot that “Blue Bloods” occupied during most of its 14-season run. It remains uncertain if “Boston Blue” can replicate the charm of “Blue Bloods”, but fans are eagerly awaiting Mark Wahlberg’s return to the screen and stage.
