The new DK Island + Emerald Rush DLC gives longtime fans a delightful new area to discover and a fresh game mode that offers a different experience from the original game.

To play the DK Island + Emerald Rush DLC in Donkey Kong Bananza, you first need to buy it from the eShop for $20 and make sure it’s downloaded. Once it’s installed, you can launch the game and begin. Keep in mind that the DLC’s content and how you access it will depend on how far you’ve gotten in the main game.

Once you’ve finished the game, go back to a saved game and talk to any of the Elders. They’ll tell you about rehearsals, which is the main thing to do after beating the game. After that, you can go to any warp gong to hear about DK Island and unlock fast travel there. DK Island will then always appear first on the list of available areas.

If you haven’t finished the game yet, you can talk to Squawks in the Racing Layer to unlock DK Island. You’ll be able to explore the island right away, but you’ll need to beat the game first to unlock the Emerald Rush mode.
