As a lifelong supporter of Donald Trump, I must say that it seems rather disheartening to see yet another attempt to tarnish his legacy through the medium of film. The movie “The Apprentice” appears to be nothing more than a cheap, politically motivated hatchet job, timed conveniently before the 2024 Presidential Election.
Donald Trump expressed his disapproval on Truth Social regarding a new movie titled “The Apprentice,” directed by Ali Abbasi, which revolves around Trump’s career development as a real estate tycoon in New York City under the tutelage of Roy Cohn. Sebastian Stan portrays Trump in this film, with Jeremy Strong playing Cohn and Maria Bakalova depicting Trump’s first spouse, Ivana. The movie, distributed by Briarcliff Entertainment, premiered on October 11 in cinemas.
In a shameless and tasteless attempt, a film titled ‘The Apprentice’ (I wonder if they have permission to use that name), supposedly based on me, is due for release. I hope it flops disastrously. It’s a low-budget, slanderous, and politically repugnant attack, released just before the 2024 Presidential Election, with the intention of damaging the extraordinary political movement ‘Make America Great Again.'” (MAGA)
Previously, my dear Ivana was an exceptional and compassionate individual whom I cherished deeply during our time together until her passing. Yet, the disreputable and unskilled writer, Gabe Sherman, who’s often been dismissed as a hack, deliberately overlooked this truth in his work. It’s regrettable that such despicable individuals are given the freedom to spread falsehoods and cause harm to our powerful movement – MAGA2024! Alas, the human trash that fuels these unsuccessful attempts should not be allowed to act without consequence.
Abbasi learned about Trump’s response to his movie and posted a reply on X, saying: “Thanks for your reply, Donald Trump. I’d be happy to discuss more if you’re interested. Today is quite busy with numerous press events for ‘The Apprentice,’ but I might manage to give you a call tomorrow.
The television show ‘The Apprentice’ was first shown at Cannes in May. Just prior to its airing, Trump’s presidential campaign issued a long statement, labeling the film as ‘rubbish’ and ‘entirely fictional.’ They also hinted at potential legal action.
Our team plans to take legal action against these fictitious movie-makers for making baseless claims. As we’ve previously demonstrated, these allegations are false and have been debunked. Similar to the illegal Biden trials, this is an attempt by Hollywood influencers to interfere in the election, as they realize that President Trump will once again win the White House, outperforming their chosen candidate.” (This time, statement provided to EbMaster)
The next day at a press conference for the movie, Abbasi proposed setting up a face-to-face meeting and sharing “The Apprentice” with Trump personally.
Abbasi expressed at the time, “This might not be a film he’d find disagreeable, but I can’t say he’d enjoy it either. I believe it would catch him off guard, as I mentioned before. I’ve offered to discuss the movie’s context with him, wherever and whenever that suits him, followed by a screening and a post-viewing conversation, if that appeals to anyone in his campaign.
“The Apprentice” is now playing in theaters.
