Domhnall Gleeson Says Steve Carell and John Krasinski Encouraged Him to Join ‘The Office’ Spinoff ‘The Paper’: ‘I’m Delighted I Listened to Them’

Steve Carell and John Krasinski are helping to usher in the next era of “The Office.”

During a recent interview with People, actor Domhnall Gleeson, slated for the upcoming “Office” spinoff series titled “The Paper,” revealed that both Carell and Krasinski inspired him to become part of the show.

Krasinski and Carell were fantastic, Gleeson stated. Essentially, Krasinski’s advice was to go for it, while Carell, a talented actor I’ve worked with previously, also encouraged me to do so. The key point they emphasized was that if the opportunity is from ‘The Office’ creator Greg Daniels, one shouldn’t miss out because collaborating with him is a rare privilege not many people get to enjoy.

A documentary team renowned for capturing the essence of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office are on the hunt for their next subject. They stumble upon an old Midwestern newspaper, and its struggling publisher, who is attempting a comeback.

In addition to Gleeson, the show features Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key as its main cast members. Oscar Nuñez is also part of the cast, returning to his role of Oscar Martinez from the initial series.

Gleeson mentioned that he might have reached “The Paper” independently, yet the encouragement from Carell and Krasinski served as a helpful nudge during his path towards the Peacock comedy’s success.

As a devoted cinephile, I’d like to share my thoughts: “Honestly, I fancy that I might’ve found the path on my own, but if John and Steve had warned me off, saying ‘it’s a disaster’, I would’ve swiftly backed out. However, they were nothing but enthusiastic about it, and I’m overjoyed that I heeded their advice.
