On Tuesday, April 22nd, the social media personality hosted a live stream while sporting an eyepatch covering his right eye, stating that he might have suffered an incident leading to potential lifelong blindness in that eye.
As per Marlon’s account, he awoke one day with a reddish tint in his right eye, thinking it might just be temporary. However, the next day, his left eye became severely red and swollen, prompting him to visit Urgent Care eventually due to the intensity of the symptoms.
He started off by saying, “Things have been tough, I must admit,” but setting aside the jesting… One morning, I found that my left eye had turned an extremely intense red color. Being someone who usually avoids doctors, I thought, ‘Oh well, it’ll heal on its own.’
That particular day, it seemed to disappear, and when I awoke the next morning, my right eye was completely red. I exclaimed, “What’s happening here?” due to the intense pain, which made streaming impossible. Slowly, my eye was closing.
Twitch streamer could lose eye after Gorilla Glue incident
After discussing his condition with a healthcare provider at the clinic, Marlon believed that he might have accidentally touched his eye after coming into contact with Gorilla Glue several days ago – a strong adhesive often used for bonding materials such as wood or metal.
In a hurry, they took him to consult a physician who strongly advised an immediate visit to the ER, as there was a risk he might lose his sight if any solvents from the adhesive had seeped into his eye.
After relocating from Sweden, where healthcare is provided universally, Marlon found himself utterly bewildered regarding the necessary steps, thus adding even more tension to an already stressful predicament.
Eventually, doctors informed the broadcaster that there was uncertainty about whether they could preserve his eye. It’s advised to rinse the eye immediately if it comes into contact with Gorilla Glue – however, Marlon held off for a complete 24 hours before seeking immediate medical attention.
They’re essentially saying, ‘At the moment, we’ll provide you with this, but we’re unsure about the future, whether it will improve or not.’ They couldn’t predict, as the situation was quite severe.
Supporters expressed empathy towards Marlon, sending him well wishes during his recovery from eye issues – however, it’s important to note that he is not alone in this challenge as other streamers have also experienced similar ocular injuries.
