Disney’s $2.7B Star-Studded Avengers Film That Defined a Franchise Is a Streaming Hit Ahead of New Sequel

Everyone occasionally needs a reminder of what’s been happening, and that’s okay. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get even more ambitious in its sixth phase, especially with the upcoming release of Avengers: Doomsday this December.

With the highly anticipated new movie still months away (March marks nine months since the last big event), fans are revisiting Avengers: Endgame on Disney+ to get their superhero fix. It seems they don’t want to wait that long!

The superhero movie is currently available on Disney+ in many countries, like the United States, and continues to be popular even though it first came out in 2019.

Avengers: Endgame Was a Cinematic … Marvel

It’s no surprise the film is a hit, given its incredible cast and the fact that Avengers: Endgame is the culmination of over ten years of interconnected Marvel movies. As a sequel to the hugely popular Avengers: Infinity War, it brings together storylines from across the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, with each film building on the last.

Listing all the famous actors in Avengers: Endgame would take a while – it included stars like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and many, many others. It was truly an all-star cast!

The characters were incredibly powerful in 2018 and 2019, and we don’t expect that to be any different in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.

Things have become even more complicated with the addition of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts (formerly The New Avengers). Now, we’re also seeing the original X-Men from 20th Century Fox enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe to fight against a new, multiversal threat – a much more dangerous version of Downey’s character than when he was the heroic Iron Man. This new threat makes Thanos from Avengers: Endgame seem insignificant in comparison.

Can Avengers: Doomsday Outperform Avengers: Endgame?

Let’s be real, there won’t be another movie quite like Avengers: Endgame. It was a massive hit, earning an incredible $2.4 billion at the box office with a budget of around $400 million – truly one of the biggest movies ever made! What really struck me was how much everyone loved it – critics and audiences alike were completely blown away, and I was right there with them.

Rotten Tomatoes certified the film as “Fresh” with a 94% rating, while audiences gave it a 90% approval rating based on over 50,000 reviews and still counting.

As a huge film fan, I can tell you Avengers: Endgame was an absolute emotional ride. It wasn’t just a great superhero movie, it definitively proved to anyone claiming ‘superhero fatigue’ or that these films aren’t real cinema (sorry, Mr. Scorsese!) that they were completely wrong. And honestly, whatever Marvel does in December 2026? It feels like it’s going to completely redefine what’s possible in the genre.
