For the very first time, The Walt Disney Company is bringing together all of its animation resources for a unified presentation at the Annecy Festival happening from June 8th to 14th this summer.
Leading studios such as Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel Animation, Lucasfilm, Disney Television Animation, and 20th Television Animation will gather at Lake Annecy in the French Alps to exhibit the enchantment, groundbreaking techniques, and rich heritage that position them as leaders in the global animation industry.
At Annecy 2025, we’ll unveil an unprecedented display of Disney’s upcoming movies, including sequels that fans have been eagerly waiting for and entirely new creations. This event will host a variety of insightful panels featuring talented artists, exclusive sneak peeks at never-before-seen footage, and awards honoring some of Disney’s most respected creators.
Directed by Jared Bush, winner of an Oscar, from Walt Disney Animation Studios, we’ll get a sneak peek of “Zootopia 2”. This sequel will hit theaters on November 26, and it brings back beloved characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they work together to solve a puzzling reptilian enigma that could disrupt Zootopia’s tranquility. If you’re eager for news about this highly anticipated follow-up, mark your calendars for an open-air screening of the original “Zootopia” on June 14 – it’ll surely leave fans excited to learn more!
As a cinephile, I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming presentation by Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter. This event promises to be unmissable as it showcases Pixar’s future projects. Topping the list is “Elio,” a summer blockbuster set for release in 2025, directed by Domee Shi (“Turning Red”) and Madeline Sharafian (“Burrow”). Mary Alice Drumm (“Coco”), the producer, will be overseeing this project. “Elio” tells the story of a dreamer who is mistaken for Earth’s ambassador to a cosmic council, combining humor, emotion, and sci-fi excitement in a way that only Pixar can.
Dr. Jones is set to showcase two exciting previews: “Hoppers” (2026), an emotional story about a young girl animating robotic creatures, and a sneak peek at “Toy Story 5.” In celebration of the 30th anniversary of “Toy Story,” exclusive, previously unseen footage from its early stages will be revealed, granting us a unique look into one of the most groundbreaking and impactful animated films ever made.
Dr. will be joining Disney legend Ron Clements in the Annecy Walk of Fame. Known for being one of the main driving forces behind Disney’s successful ’90s resurgence, Dr. is also the director of popular animated films such as “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and “Moana.”

In preparation for its launch on Disney+ on August 6th, Director and Executive Producer Todd Harris will discuss the creation process behind this captivating series that follows Wakandan warriors throughout history.

Lucasfilm is venturing into a darker narrative with “Black,” an upcoming short film for “Star Wars: Visions Vol. 3,” penned and helmed by renowned anime creator Shinya Ohira. This short film immerses viewers in a captivating, psychological battle between light and darkness. Additionally, Lucasfilm will showcase “Devotion,” hailing from the series “Tales of the Empire,” crafted by Dave Filoni, who also works on “The Mandalorian.” This piece delves into the journey of Barriss Offee, a former Jedi, as she navigates her path under the looming shadow of the Empire.
