Disney Reveals First Tron: Ares Footage At D23

As a seasoned gamer with four decades of digital adventures under my belt, I can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming Tron: Ares! The journey began back in 1982 when Tron first graced our screens, and now here we are, on the cusp of another installment. The fact that Nine Inch Nails will be providing the score sends shivers down my virtual spine!

As a dedicated gamer, it’s mind-blowing to think about the fact that 42 years have passed since the original Tron graced our movie screens, and another 14 years have slipped by since we saw the continuation with Tron: Legacy. The anticipation for the third installment, Tron: Ares, has been building up for ages. Finally, at D23, Disney decided it was time to give us a sneak peek into the next chapter of this iconic franchise.

In this version, Jared Leto takes on the lead role as Ares, a character originating from the Grid and stepping into our world. During the sneak peek event, Leto was joined by Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jeff Bridges, who starred in the original Tron film. It appears that Evan Peters will play Julian Dillinger, a character potentially linked to Ed Dillinger from the first movie, portrayed by David Warner. Cillian Murphy previously played Edward Dillinger, Jr., son of the character Dillinger, in Tron: Legacy.

In the teaser, Peters’ role was significantly showcased as Dillinger delivers a crucial speech on the arrival of intelligent life and the integration of AI into our world. It seems that Bridges portrays a character similar to Kevin Flynn from the initial films. Lee introduced Eve Kim, her character, who is a programmer, possibly responsible for creating a pathway for Ares to cross over into reality.

After examining the video, it was clear that Nine Inch Nails would be responsible for the movie’s musical accompaniment.
