Disney+ Launches First-Ever 24/7 Star Wars TV Channel — Fans Are Obsessed

Disney Plus debuted its first dedicated Star Wars TV station during their annual May the Fourth event, marking the streamer’s entry into Lucasfilm’s exclusive domain. With hit live-action movies such as Star Wars: A New Hope and The Force Awakens, along with popular streaming series like The Mandalorian and the current Andor, the platform has offered a wealth of content for Star Wars enthusiasts. However, fans have traditionally been in control, deciding what and when to watch their favorites.

A unique Star Wars TV station has debuted on Disney+, expanding their ongoing selection of continuous content available on the service. This continuous content, known as Streams, serves as Disney+’s alternative to traditional TV channels, allowing fans to access it around the clock, with programming always available.

On May 4th, or Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you), the “In a Distant Galaxy” stream was launched on the platform, offering a continuous play of Star Wars material such as films from the franchise, along with their collection of live-action and animated television series.

Ever since making their grand entrance in October 2024, Disney+ has been consistently expanding its content offerings. As a film enthusiast, I’ve personally enjoyed the addition of streaming options like “The Simpsons” and the popular animated series “Phineas and Ferb” to my viewing lineup on this platform.

Earlier, Star Wars content used to be aired on the “Hits & Heroes” channel. Unfortunately, this channel is no longer available.

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I’m thrilled to share that the “In A Galaxy Far, Far Away” collection is now streaming exclusively on Disney+ for Premium subscribers! This fantastic galactic library rotates with a carousel of content drawn from both the cinematic and TV realms of the Star Wars universe.

For anyone eagerly waiting for their Star Wars dose, mark your calendars! After May 22, Thursday, the stream is scheduled to shut down. This means that Star Wars enthusiasts will need to individually select their favorite Star Wars titles from the streamer thereafter.

What Is Next for Star Wars on Disney+?

Fans, immersed in pivotal moments spanning the Star Wars saga during the “In A Galaxy Far, Far Away” live stream, are likely to gaze ahead, anticipating the future of the franchise on Disney+.

There is plenty for Star Wars fans to get excited about on the Disney-owned streaming platform.

Indeed, Tony Gilroy has wrapped up his sci-fi spy series Andor, and its second season finale aired on May 13th. However, Andor is merely the start of the franchise’s streaming endeavors, which are planned for 2025.

Later this year, there are two more Star Wars titles for fans to ogle over.

Initially, in September, there’s going to be a follow-up to last year’s “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy,” which will make its appearance on the platform. This new installment promises another round of side-splitting humor as it delves into an offbeat portrayal of the Star Wars universe, focusing on the consequences when a strange artifact alters significant events from the beloved Star Wars series.

After that, on October 29th, we can expect the premiere of the third season for the celebrated “Visions” series. This season will feature a fresh set of animated anthology stories from esteemed Star Wars-focused anime studios. For more information about the 2025 Star Wars lineup, you can check it out here.

2026 promises to be an extraordinary year for the franchise, marking one of its largest milestones yet. This will include the debut of a brand-new Star Wars film and the premiere of the second season from Dave Filoni’s series, Ahsoka.
