Disney Is Hiring For A Game That Will “Herald The Next Generation Of Disney To The World”

It seems as though Disney might be venturing into video game production. Towards the end of last month, job postings for senior and regular gameplay engineers surfaced on the Disney Careers site. Typically, such listings do not specify the project’s details; however, they hint that Disney is forming an elite development team to create a revolutionary gaming experience that will introduce the next era of Disney to the globe.

It seems these positions might involve a project that combines Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel properties, possibly indicating a multiverse collaboration. Interestingly, they also require knowledge of Unreal Editor, which is used in Fortnite, and Verse, Epic Games’ programming language for UEFN. Given Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, it could suggest these roles are connected to the upcoming metaverse within Fortnite that has yet to fully materialize beyond typical collaborations.

Previously this year, well-known Fortnite insider Hypex disclosed that a Disney metaverse was transitioned into a “solid” development phase or version. Since the initial reveal in the previous year, there have been only minimal hints about how Disney’s theme parks could potentially collaborate with the game.

The job description for the senior gameplay designer position emphasizes the need for experience during the prototyping stage of a project. Therefore, it’s unlikely that the Disney x Fortnite metaverse will be available soon.
