Disney+, Hulu and Max Streaming Bundle Launches, Priced at Discount of Up to 38%

As a passionate fan of both Disney and Warner content, I couldn’t be more excited about the new Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle! This is a game-changer for me, as it brings together my favorite shows, movies, and characters from across these beloved brands.

You can now access Dragons, Jedi knights, Marvel and DC superheroes, Harry Potter, and Disney princesses (alongside other offerings from Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery) for a more affordable monthly subscription fee, allowing you to easily stream these beloved characters and stories at your convenience.

Starting July 25, 2023 in the US, you can buy a package deal of Disney+, Hulu, and Max streams for $16.99/month with advertisements or $29.99/month without.

In the ad-supported plan, you’ll get a discount of up to 38.8% when compared to purchasing each service individually (Disney+ Basic for $7.99, Hulu with ads for $7.99, and Max With Ads for $9.99). For those who prefer no ads, you can save around 35% off the monthly standalone prices (Disney+ Premium at $13.99, Hulu without ads at $17.99, and Max Ad-Free at $16.99).

In early May, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, known for their intense rivalry, unveiled plans for a joint subscription bundle in the US. With this offer, subscribers can access content from various brands under both companies’ umbrellas, such as Disney, HBO, Hulu, Warner Bros. Pictures, FX, ABC, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Star Wars, CNN, DC, Discovery, Food Network, and HGTV.

Media companies aim to increase viewer involvement and decrease subscriptions cancellations by offering discounted bundles, as research shows that these consumers tend to stay longer. Following this trend, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox Corporation plan to debut the Venu Sports bundle of live channels in autumn.

In simpler terms, the Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle is an attempt to bring back the all-in-one subscription model of traditional pay-TV, which has been losing popularity due to the rise of more affordable streaming services.

As a long-time subscriber to Hulu and Disney+, I’ve always appreciated the flexibility of having separate accounts for each platform. However, lately, I’ve been considering the convenience of bundling these services together. Yet, after investigating the offer, I was disappointed to find out that the only way to sign up for the Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle is through direct-billed purchases on their respective websites.

To boost the upcoming release, a unified marketing effort starting today will be initiated across various national platforms. This campaign highlights each streamer’s popular TV shows, movies, and characters. The thoughtfully planned promotion features an intense advertising push on television, social media, digital channels, and the respective companies’ own outlets. In simpler terms, when you subscribe to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ together, you’re getting a “combination” package. Each service can still be accessed independently through its own app. This is different from a “bundled” package where multiple streaming services are fully integrated, like how Disney merged Hulu into Disney+ for those who subscribe to both.

In an interview in May, WBD CEO David Zaslav described the new bundle as marking a significant shift in how people perceive content. He recalled his own experience of navigating disruption during the early days of cable television. Looking ahead, Zaslav anticipates that there will be major changes in the way people consume content.

In the same vein, during the past week, Netflix boasted to its investors about its dominant position in the market by stating in its Q2 letter that it hasn’t formed partnerships with competitors such as Disney+ or Max for bundled deals. This is because Netflix offers an extensive and diverse range of content along with an exceptional user experience, making it the go-to choice for entertainment already.

Disney and WBD proudly showcased the extensive collection of content offered by their trio of services in this package deal. The lineup encompasses beloved shows such as “Family Guy,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “The Simpsons.” It also includes renowned film franchises like Frozen, Marvel’s Avengers, Star Wars, and Pixar’s Toy Story. Additionally, it features Warner Bros. Discovery’s movie and TV franchises such as Batman, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, “Game of Thrones,” and “House of the Dragon.” Upcoming premieres of original content include Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” Season 4 (Aug. 27), Disney+’s “Agatha All Along” (Sept. 18), and Max’s “The Penguin” (September).
