Disney+ Finally Adds the Star Wars Feature We’ve Been Waiting For

Disney+ has finally added a highly requested feature for Star Wars fans. Since its launch, Disney+ has offered a wealth of Star Wars content, including both new shows and classic projects originally created by George Lucas.

Disney+ has launched a dedicated “Star Wars Animation” channel within its Streams section for U.S. subscribers. This is a first for the platform – a Streams channel entirely devoted to animated Star Wars content. However, access to this channel is currently limited to Disney+ Premium members.

Disney+’s Streams function similarly to regular TV channels. They offer a continuous, 24/7 live broadcast that subscribers can tune into whenever they want. For instance, the Star Wars Animation stream is currently showing Season 2, Episode 12 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, titled “The Mandalore Plot.” The episode plays live, even if you’re not watching, and the next episode will automatically begin when it finishes.

The Star Wars Animation Streams channel features animated content from across the entire Star Wars timeline. It includes both official stories, like episodes of Star Wars Rebels and The Bad Batch, and older, non-official projects. These older series, such as Ewoks and the 2D Clone Wars micro-series, are marked as ‘Vintage’ on Disney+.

While animated Star Wars openings have appeared on Disney+ before, this marks the first time the service has dedicated an entire channel solely to animated Star Wars shows and movies. Given how much fans love these animated stories, this new channel is a significant addition, offering a way to enjoy animated Star Wars content anytime.

Below is a full list of projects that will be featured in the Star Wars Animation Streams channel:

  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars (movie)
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV Series)
  • Tales of the Underworld
  • Tales of the Empire
  • Tales of the Jedi
  • The Bad Batch
  • Star Wars: Visions
  • Star Wars Rebels
  • Star Wars Rebels: Shorts
  • Star Wars Resistance
  • Star Wars: Clone Wars (2D micro-series)
  • Ewoks
  • LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy
  • LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales
  • LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation
  • LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises
  • LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars Shorts
  • LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles – Duel of the Skywalkers
  • LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles – Clash of the Skywalkers
  • LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles – Escape from the Jedi Temple
  • LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles – Race for the Holocrons
  • LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles – Raid on Coruscant
  • Star Wars: Forces of Destiny

It’s interesting to note that a couple of animated Star Wars series, Droids and The Story of the Faithful Wookiee, aren’t included in the lineup. This is a little surprising, especially since the Ewoks series is available. All three shows came out around the same period, so it’s unclear why Disney+ chose to stream only one of them.

Disney+ has been heavily featuring Star Wars animated content recently. They’ve even created a dedicated collection on the platform that includes all of the Star Wars animated projects available on Disney+.

How Long Will the Star Wars Animation Stream Be on Disney+?

This Star Wars animation channel probably won’t be available forever. Disney+ has added similar Star Wars content before, but it hasn’t stayed up for very long.

Disney+ launched a special Star Wars channel around May 4th – known as Star Wars Day because of the phrase “May the Fourth be with you.” Unfortunately, the channel was only available for a short time and was removed after about two weeks.

As a big Star Wars fan, I’ve noticed a lot more animated content on Disney+, and it’s exciting! While Disney+ might be testing the waters to see how popular animated Star Wars is, I think the real reason is the awesome new season of Star Wars: Visions that just dropped. It’s a great addition to the service and probably drove this push for more animated shows.

The third season of Visions premiered on October 28, 2025, and has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from critics and viewers alike. Given the show’s popularity and strong reviews, Disney might see this as a perfect time to introduce a dedicated channel, especially with fans already excited about animated Star Wars content.

Disney hasn’t publicly shared how its Streams platform works, but it likely involves paying actors and crew members some form of royalties when content is shown there. This could be why some Streams channels disappear quickly, and why major franchises like Star Wars and Marvel aren’t always streaming content.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, definitely check out the animated content available on Disney+ while it’s still there, as it might not stay forever. Disney+ will likely add more Star Wars streams later on, perhaps when new movies or shows come out, or to mark special occasions.
