Disney Dreamlight Valley fans vent their frustrations when devs ask for “quality of life improvements”

As a long-time Disney Dreamlight Valley (DDV) player, I’ve invested countless hours into this game, and it’s been a rollercoaster ride of excitement and frustration. The recent addition of making Touch of Magic items invisible during DreamSnaps is a welcome improvement, albeit buggy and barely functional. However, the lack of communication and implementation of other essential features has left many players, including myself, feeling frustrated.

As a gamer in Disney Dreamlight Valley, I’ve had the opportunity to share my ideas with the brilliant team behind the scenes. Some of these suggestions have been incorporated into the game, making it even more enjoyable for all of us. Recently, I proposed the idea of making Touch of Magic items invisible when taking DreamSnaps. Guess what? They listened and implemented it! Now, I can take DreamSnap photos without those magical items ruining the shot’s aesthetics. Isn’t that amazing?

It’s buggy and barely works, but it is a feature that was added to the game.

After Disney Dreamlight Valley (DDV) recently published a new post on their Facebook page on July 25, 2024, it’s evident that many players are expressing dissatisfaction with various aspects of the game. Some players have offered constructive feedback, while others have voiced their disappointment more vocally, having requested certain updates for quite some time.

On the official Disney Dreamlight Valley (DDV) website, players are encouraged to share their desired game features or modifications for potential inclusion in an upcoming update. At the moment of writing this article, there have been approximately 1,700 comments from players engaging in discussions and proposing ideas, with minimal involvement from the GameLoft DDV team at that point.

I received a response to one comment during my live gamestream. This comment was filled with various ideas, which I’ve tidied up a bit for easier understanding. Here’s what some of those suggestions meant:

  • Toggle items on/off in Scrooge’s windows instead of having empty windows, which occurs when you’ve purchased all full-length outfits in your store.
  • A search feature for cooking and furniture because scrolling takes forever.
  • Highlight ordered meals in Remy’s restaurant. It’s easy to forget what everyone ordered.
  • Better path-to-building alignment. They don’t line up properly, leaving a lip to the path.
  • Do more with companions: Feed, bathe, pet, teach tricks, etc.
  • More default hairstyles and/or wigs.
  • Move Goofy’s stalls. You can’t move them outside of their original biome.
  • Capes. Currently non-existent in-game.
  • Music selection; pick the theme music you want to listen to, even if you have a character following you. Unlock new songs and collect music discs. Not currently available in-game.

DDV responded with a grateful acknowledgment to the exceptional ideas you shared, disregarding the other players’ comments for the moment.

Here are the popular recommendations from the post, which received many likes. A few of them align with my own perspective as well. The following suggestions aren’t ranked:

On Nintendo Switch, I’ve encountered an issue where some games exceed the system’s capacity for the number of items it can handle. This is a hardware limitation and prevents the console from running the game smoothly. As a player who bought DDV for the Switch last year, I was not previously informed about this constraint. Although I can play cross-platform on my laptop, I’d have to buy another copy of the game if I want to continue using it there.
