Discord users can win free Nitro by engaging with ads, and this interaction will earn them a fresh currency named ‘Orbs.’

The chat application that centers around popular games, Discord, is available at no cost to all users. However, for a more enhanced experience, users have the option to purchase an upgraded account called ‘Nitro.’

instead of using money, users can pay with their time.

Discord introduces ‘Orbs’ to help users get Nitro features without spending real money

As a dedicated gamer, I’m pretty stoked! On May 28, 2025, the gaming community’s favorite hub, Discord, dropped a bombshell. They’re diving into the world of digital currencies, and they’ve christened it ‘Discord Orbs.’ Can’t wait to see how this shapes up!

Orbs can be obtained by finishing tasks, referred to as ‘Missions’. These Missions may involve watching selected TV programs, videos, or even participating in certain, sponsor-supported games. Sometimes, a Mission notification will pop up at the corner of your screen.

Earlier, the Quests could only grant users exclusive content related to the game or series they were following (for instance, Marvel Rivals offering personalized, character-based profile pictures derived from the game).

Currently, users have the freedom to utilize their Orbs as they see fit, but advertisers may offer unique rewards tailored to their respective domains at their discretion.

You can utilize these Orbs within the Discord Store to acquire unique content such as Nitro Credits, a custom profile badge, unique Avatar embellishments, and distinctive Profile effects – all without needing to provide credit card or real-world payment details.

Instead, users are not able to purchase Partner-labeled store products, gifts, or ongoing Nitro or Boosting subscriptions using Orbs.

Discord has announced that they’re starting to release Orbs to a limited group of users worldwide. More users will get them really soon. Users selected for this rollout will see a unique notification when they open the app, explaining the basics of the Orb system.

Following the appointment of Humam Sakhnini, who previously held the position of Vice Chairman at Activision Blizzard, as its new CEO, Discord has recently made a shift in leadership, with Jason Citron, one of the co-founders, having stepped down from his role earlier this year.

Additionally, the system will trial a novel function that employs facial recognition technology to confirm age. At present, this functionality is operational in Australia and the United Kingdom.
