2025 saw high expectations for The First Berserker: Khazan among Soulslike enthusiasts, and it certainly delivered on its promise of challenging gameplay and the toughness gamers crave. However, some players find it excessively difficult.
To clarify, Khazan offers an Easy mode for those seeking less difficulty but wishing to explore the game. The hurdle of difficulty is significant in FromSoft’s notoriously tough games, so developers who tackle this genre often either intensify it (like Lies of P) or strive to make things more straightforward and user-friendly. Khazan has opted for the latter approach.
Despite being set on the easiest difficulty level, many players found the initial stages challenging enough to conquer.
Consequently, the day of launch arrived, bringing an update that further simplified the Easy mode and included adjustments to certain bosses, making them less challenging.
The First Berserker: Khazan gets even easier Easy mode
On the day it was launched officially, an update became available for players who hadn’t paid additional money to access the game prematurely. Moreover, changes have been made in the complete version following the initial feedback from players finding the early game levels particularly challenging.
A section of their release day patch reads as follows:
The developers shared that despite providing multiple levels of challenge adjustments, many gamers expressed struggle with specific levels, even after selecting the easiest setting as their final choice.
In order to improve the support offered to players who find Easy Mode more suitable, we’ve tweaked some aspects of the benefits provided in this setting. These modifications aim to give a stronger feeling of assistance to these players while minimizing any impact on the gaming experience for those playing at Normal level.
In the ultimate version of the game, the Easy setting will enhance the player’s health and endurance levels more than previously, while simultaneously increasing the damage output for a greater advantage.

Moreover, the challenge levels of several bosses have been adjusted, with Viper standing out as particularly significant for early-game players. He serves as one of the few obstacles for newcomers, demanding precise parry timing and careful stamina management. This adjustment aims to make progressing into later stages of the game more accessible for all players.
Initially released as “The First Berserker: Khazan,” this game has earned widespread acclaim for its balanced difficulty level that combines challenge with fairness. However, some players found it excessively difficult, even on the easiest setting. To cater to these players, adjustments have been made to lessen the game’s overall difficulty, making it more accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience.
