Devil May Cry Season 2 Will Be “Very Different”

Within a week of its debut, Netflix decided to renew Devil May Cry for Season 2. However, we might not see new episodes right away. Despite the wait, producer and showrunner Adi Shankar has started thinking about the direction that Devil May Cry will take in the forthcoming season.

Shankar mentioned in X that Season 2 will present a significantly altered show, stating “Dante progresses to new heights, his abilities expanding and fans of the game can anticipate him embodying more of the legendary toughness they’ve come to expect. However, I am still narrating a story, and remarkable characters don’t simply triumphthey evolve. What makes Dante intriguing isn’t that he is invincible; it’s that he learns and continues to grow in strength.

In an upcoming post, it was verified by Shankar that character Nell Goldstein, a gunsmith, will be featured in the initial Devil May Cry novel. Moreover, he hinted at a unique relationship between Nell and Dante, where they share a mother-son bond.

There are spoilers ahead for Devil May Cry Season 1.

At the end of Devil May Cry’s first season, Dante (Johnny Yong Bosch) was seized and put into stasis by DARKCOM. Meanwhile, Dante’s long-lost brother Vergil (Robbie Daymond) appeared in the closing scenes, liberating the demons that DARKCOM had imprisoned. This allowed these demons to serve Mundus, the ruler of Hell instead.

More recently, Shankar revealed his acquisition of the Duke Nukem video game series for adaptation, without specifying if it would include a possible animated show as well. Meanwhile, GOG unveiled the inclusion of the initial four Devil May Cry games within their Game Preservation Program.
