Destiny Rising RPG Announced, Takes Place In An Alternate Timeline In The Destiny Universe

In a recent announcement, NetEase and Bungie unveiled a brand new mobile game within the Destiny series titled Destiny Rising. This science fiction role-playing game takes place in an alternate timeframe of the Destiny universe, offering top-tier shooting experiences designed specifically for mobile devices.

The game offers a fresh experience featuring both familiar faces and newcomers, as well as a mix of classic and novel gameplay modes. In September, news leaked about a potential mobile version of Destiny, developed by Bungie and NetEase. This could suggest that the $100 million deal from 2018, which was intended for non-Destiny games, has been altered or expanded, as Destiny Rising seems to be a part of the Destiny series, implying there might be further collaborations between Bungie and NetEase.

Alongside the development of Destiny Rising, Bungie is also working on a survival-shooter titled Marathon, and it seems they have other projects in progress too. In 2024, Bungie underwent substantial changes, including a wave of layoffs that impacted several senior team members. Moreover, some employees within Bungie are now part of a new team under parent company Sony to develop a fresh action game.
