Destiny 2's Elusive Exotic Class Items Are Coming To Xur's Inventory

As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I must say, the recent changes to Xur’s inventory have brought a fresh wave of excitement! The addition of the Exotic class item from The Final Shape expansion is a game-changer, making it a little less grueling to obtain those elusive gear combinations.

Starting on August 20th update, the selection of items offered by Destiny 2’s unique vendor, Xur, who resembles a squid-faced creature, will undergo another transformation. Notably, in addition to his usual Exotics assortment, he will now stock the new Exotic class item that has been introduced in The Final Shape expansion. This change makes it slightly more convenient for players to acquire fresh rolls of this gear piece to complement their loadouts.

On August 26, following the update, you can be certain that Xur will carry an Exotic-class item for the first time. Bungie announced this information.

In their latest blog post titled “This Week in Destiny,” Bungie revealed that there will be a change. Starting now, players can buy an Exotic class item from Xur for 41 Strange Coins, which is quite a lot of this currency. This item will come with a mix of random perks. However, it’s important to note that Xur may not always have the class item each week; his inventory changes randomly, so you’ll need to visit him every weekend to see what he has (or alternatively, check out our weekly Xur guide).

In Update 8.0.5.2, a change is introduced regarding Xur’s inventory. This adjustment shifts the location of the “Wildcard” item he offers, which has historically included items like Exotic Ciphers and Ritual engrams, to a new section in the menu. Consequently, the slot that once housed the Wildcard item will now either contain an Exotic class item or an Exotic Cipher. Although Xur isn’t certain to offer an Exotic class item every week, the possibility remains quite likely. However, this doesn’t ensure the quality of the class item itself, as each one comes with two random Exotic perks. Nevertheless, having Xur carry the item gives players another opportunity to acquire what they desire.

As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with countless hours spent traversing the cosmos and uncovering its mysteries, I can attest to one unyielding truth: unlocking Exotic class items remains consistent regardless of Xur’s offerings. It is not enough to simply acquire an exotic from the enigmatic vendor; you must first embark on the arduous journey to complete the Dual Destiny mission within The Final Shape’s Pale Heart of the Traveler.

In The Final Shape game, the Exotic class equipment stands out as one of the top gear options due to its exceptional attributes. Players are eagerly seeking additional methods to acquire these items while trying to find unique perk combinations for their various gaming strategies. As these perks are randomly assigned, the process requires farming – and this has resulted in some dissatisfaction within the community due to the relatively low drop rates.

In Update 8.0.5, Bungie attempted to boost the frequency of obtaining class items by implementing something like a “good fortune prevention” in the main activity of Pale Heart, Overthrow. This intended to raise your chances of getting an Exotic class item from the final chest after completing an Overthrow event. However, it appears the update didn’t function as planned, as players have noticed a decrease instead of an increase in the drop rate for the Exotic class item since Update 8.0.5. The modification to Xur might help slightly mitigate this issue, but only on specific days of the week.
