Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Reveal on May 6!

Bungie has announced the timeline when Destiny 2 gamers can get insights into their strategies for the loot-shooter game, Destiny 2, from the rest of 2025 and into the future.

After the launch of The Final Shape in June 2024, we’ve had three episodes – Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy – released as interim content before the arrival of significant, expansion-style updates.

So far, all we’ve learned is that Destiny 2’s upcoming major content release goes by the name Frontiers, and it’s planned to be divided into two separate installments: Apollo and Behemoth.

According to Bungie’s tweet on April 15th, we now have a clearer title – “The Edge of Fate” – and a firm release date for when more details about the upcoming Guardian adventure will be revealed.

The Edge of Fate reveal event date

On May 6th, Bungie will unveil the Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate reveal event. Coincidentally, this is also when Episode Heresy’s Rite of the Nine event begins. Given the symbols present in the teaser for The Edge of Fate, it seems probable that these two events might be intertwined somehow.

Does The Edge of Fate have a release date?

As for now, there’s no set release date for Edge of Fate. However, based on the known release date of Episode Heresy which is July 15, 2025, it seems that the expansion might not be available before the summer at the earliest.

Historically, Bungie has designed game content in a way that one season or expansion seamlessly transitions into another without any breaks. However, it’s important to note that this approach may not necessarily apply in this case.

Who are the Nine?

Although we don’t know who or what the Nine actually are, they have been mentioned since Destiny’s early days. Xur, a vendor linked with exotic items, is known to be connected to this group, which operates from an unknown dimension called Unknown Space.

In a similar vein, Trials of the Nine – a retired PvP event from the initial Destiny 2 release – included the Emissary, an Awoken character linked to the secretive faction. You may wonder how this connects to The Edge of Fate? Quite simply, the expansion’s emblem includes symbols directly tied to the Nine.

The Emissary has deep ties to The Nine.

Are Frontiers and The Edge of Fate the same?

Currently, there’s no definitive proof that The Edge of Fate and Frontiers represent the same entity. However, it’s plausible that The Edge of Fate might be the actual title of Apollo, a code name for part of what Frontiers embodies.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m eagerly waiting to learn the truth after Bungie’s big reveal on May 6. For all the latest details about Frontiers, check out our roadmap breakdown for an inside scoop!
