In December 2025, Destiny 2 will be releasing its second expansion titled “Renegades,” which carries a Star Wars-inspired journey. Today, Bungie, the game developer, unveiled this upcoming adventure in an exciting cinematic trailer. Renegades is designed to capture the essence of the Star Wars franchise and seems to incorporate lightsabers as a new weapon option for players.
During Bungie’s live stream explaining The Edge of Fate expansion due on July 15th, they added a sneak peek (surprise trailer) at the end. Although specifics about Renegades are still scarce, apart from its December release date and the fact it will feature a lightsaber, Bungie’s team has openly stated that they are drawing direct inspiration from Star Wars and other space western genres for this project.
2025 sees the arrival of Renegades, the second expansion of the year, as part of Bungie’s fresh development strategy for Destiny 2. Stepping away from its previous emphasis on seasonal narratives, Bungie intends to maintain a rhythm of two expansions annually, interspersed with free updates. As a gamer, I can hardly wait to explore this new chapter!
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation as we delve deeper into the mysteries of Destiny 2’s lightsabers and the other Star Wars-inspired mechanics that are slated for the upcoming expansion. For now, these details will unfold later in the year. However, Bungie has generously shared a wealth of information about this summer’s expansion, The Edge of Fate. In the interim, we can look forward to exciting new features such as customizable location difficulty settings!
