Players of Destiny 2 have again expressed worries about what appears to be an inconsistency in the rate at which specific weapon trait pairs are distributed.

In October 2024, after numerous exchanges between Bungie’s internal probes and information collected by the community, it was discovered that some weapon perk combinations were dropping at a lower rate than intended.

Initially, the developer clarified that there are no deliberate mechanisms in place to reduce the likelihood of specific weapon enhancements appearing on weapons. Instead, the observed disparity was due to a glitch, which was eventually rectified.

To make up for the time invested by players in search of impacted loot, game developer Bungie provided various highly desirable weapons, known as ‘god rolls’, for free via Destiny 2’s Gunsmith, Banshee-44.

Drop rate Déjà vu

On January 6th, a Reddit user shared their rewards after obtaining 104 Glaives (Adept Rake Angle) from completing the Birthplace of the Vile run on ten different occasions.

In Destiny 2’s grandmaster mode, my go-to strike, The Strike, got swapped with Liminality starting January 2. Seems like there were too many glitches in the guitar code.

According to them, the user’s dataset was considered “fairly limited,” making it “tricky to establish firm conclusions.” However, they pointed out that in their data, the use of Chill Clip with a Rake Angle was found to be “less frequent on average,” which potentially implies that it might be used less frequently.

As I delved deeper into this game, I couldn’t help but notice that not all item combinations were equally likely to appear. The way things stood, it seemed like certain perks and combinations were preferred over others, although the data itself didn’t provide concrete proof for weighting.

Many comments in the thread suggested that several users encountered repeated instances of Rake Angle drops when using the Chill Clip, although these incidents are merely anecdotal, they might hint at the possibility that the user of the Rake Angle may have simply experienced a string of bad luck.

Despite the lack of definitive resolution, complaints from players about the game’s technical glitches have been growing more frequent and are expected to remain a significant issue up until 2025.
