Destiny 2 October 22 early patch notes: Vesper’s Host Artifice Armor & The Last Word fixes

As a seasoned Destiny 2 gamer with countless hours under my belt, I must say, Bungie never ceases to amaze me with their updates. The October 22 patch is shaping up to be a game-changer, especially for us hardcore Guardians.

Bungie has given us a peek into the modifications that will be rolled out for Destiny 2 in the October 22 update, covering tweaks to Vesper’s Host and The Last Word.

In a recent tweet, the developer highlighted three significant enhancements coming to the sandbox, with the first one making the Master level of the Revenant’s Vesper’s Host dungeon considerably more rewarding.

See below for the full list of early patch notes.

Destiny 2 October 22 early patch notes

  • Vesper’s Host will start dropping Artifice Armor on Master difficulty.
  • Adding a debuff icon so players can identify when they have been marked by a Warlock using Sanguine Alchemy.
  • Fixed an issue where The Last Word was doing too much damage against players, so the weapon will be reenabled on Tuesday for PvP and Gambit. But you all loved the extra damage so much that we’ve kept it for PvE. Maybe give it a try with Lucky Pants?

Vesper’s Host Artifice Armor

After the October 22 update, it will become possible for Vesper’s Host to drop the Artifice Armor, which features an extra mod slot. This allows for increased enhancements in key attributes like Resilience, Discipline, and Intellect.

Instead of an immediate bonus when playing on Master difficulty with Vesper’s Host, there was supposed to be a feature that would activate once Master difficulty became accessible, but a glitch prevented it from being obtained. Instead of removing Master difficulty altogether, Bungie chose to keep it active for Guardians trying to earn the Unleashed title.

The Last Word

Following the realization that The Last Word was causing unintended harm in Player vs Player (PvP) and Gambit, Bungie temporarily disabled this Exotic weapon shortly following the release of Revenant on October 8th. However, with the latest update rolled out on Tuesday, this Hand Cannon is now set to be activated again for all game modes, but with a twist to it.

Initially, the main impact of this matter was observed in competitive gameplay because of its incredibly fast Time-to-Kill (TTK). However, the developers also boosted Last Word’s damage in player versus environment (PvE) scenarios. In a statement, they acknowledged that players enjoyed the damage so much that they decided to retain it for PvE play.
