As a seasoned Destiny 2 veteran with countless hours spent battling through hordes of enemies and competing in the Crucible, I can confidently say that the Martyr’s Retribution is a game-changer. The latest addition to our arsenal, this Solar wave-frame grenade launcher has quickly become my go-to weapon for PvE encounters.

In Destiny 2, wave-frame grenade launchers rank high for swiftly eliminating numerous enemies. The latest addition to this category is the Martyr’s Retribution, which debuted with the final act of the Echoes episode. This Solar weapon broadens your collection and serves as an excellent option in PvE combat due to its perks that create strong Solar synergy and bolster survivability during intense battles. How To Get Martyr’s Retribution

The Martyr’s Retribution has been added to the collection of loot obtainable from Echoes activities and engrams. To acquire this weapon, participating in missions such as Breach Executable, Battlegrounds, and Enigma Protocol within Echoes is recommended, as well as completing the new exotic mission, Encore: Overture. Additionally, focusing on acquiring the weapon with Failsafe is possible, but you’ll need to purchase an upgrade for Failsafe from a vendor that isn’t currently in the game. Since Martyr’s Retribution cannot be crafted, players will need to continue earning it to find the specific roll they desire.

Martyr’s Retribution PvE God Roll

  • Barrel: Quick Launch
    • Velocity +10, Handling +15
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
    • Velocity +10, Reload Speed +10
  • First Perk: Heal Clip
    • Reloading after dealing a final blow grants Cure to you and your nearby allies. You have additional time to perform the reload.
  • Second Perk: Incandescent
    • Defeating a target spreads a longer lasting scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Some Solar weapons in Echoes have united the top perks of two elements – Heal Clip and Incandescent – and this fusion significantly boosts the strength of Martyr’s Retribution. You may already be using a few guns with this combination, but Martyr’s is unique because it’s the only wave-frame Solar grenade launcher that combines them. This duo is quite potent. Since the launcher fires one round at a time and needs reloading, Heal Clip is consistently activated if you’re scoring numerous kills. Incandescent, on the other hand, amplifies the already strong weapon, making it excellent for swiftly incinerating and exploding multiple enemies.

Instead of focusing on all aspects for your barrel and magazine, prioritize the speed and ease-of-use characteristics. The velocity specifies how swiftly your grenades reach their target upon firing, enhancing the launcher’s accuracy, whereas handling is crucial when you need to swiftly switch to it during rapidly evolving situations.

    • Reloading after dealing a final blow grants Cure to you and your nearby allies. You have additional time to perform the reload.
  • Second Perk: Desperate Measures
    • Weapon final blows grant bonus damage for an improved duration. Melee and grenade final blows grant a larger damage bonus that can stack.
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Full disclosure: You’re not going to get much use out of Martyr’s Retribution in the Crucible, as it’s much more purpose-built for PvE. If you have to use it, focus on boosting its velocity stat so that your grenades get to your Guardian targets before they have a chance to move or dodge. Heal Clip is still a solid choice here, as if you manage to get a kill with Martyr’s Retribution, your next shot will help keep you alive a little longer. Desperate Measures also boosts the gun’s damage without much difficulty, especially if you use it after a grenade or melee kill.

Additionally, Echoes unveiled two more types of weaponry. Be sure to explore our guides on acquiring optimal builds for the Speleologist and Chronophage.
