It’s been verified that Destiny 2 will be receiving an authorized Star Wars extension, complete with famous weapons and vehicles from the franchise. That’s right, expect to see lightsabers as well!
Since The Final Shape concluded, there’s been a question mark over the future of Destiny 2. However, Bungie has emphasized that they still have plenty more content in store for their enduring loot-shooter game.
Instead of drawing inspiration from something akin to Star Wars, they’ve decided to fully license the series itself. Why not call it Sith Lord Exotics?
This version maintains the original meaning but uses simpler language and rephrases the comparison for clarity.
Instead of staying within the Destiny cosmos, the Guardians are venturing directly into a distant galaxy, as offered by the Renegades expansion.
Destiny 2’s Renegades expansion brings Star Wars theme
Although the featured Expansion seems devoid of recognized Star Wars characters (as far as we’re aware), it packed an impressive amount of fresh insights into a compact trailer.
What stands out, aside from the backdrop and equipment, is a fallen Stormtrooper on the floor. This could potentially imply an encounter with them, though it’s uncertain. The only hint towards authentic Star Wars storyline here, apart from objects the player can interact with, is this Stormtrooper.
Furthermore, figures are often found wielding Blasters, suggesting a probable inclusion of this type of weapon for the upcoming expansion. It remains uncertain whether these weapons will align with the existing hand cannon/sidearm categories or if they’ll introduce a fresh weapon class as a result of being a beam weapon.
Indeed, we also possess lightsabers – it’s entirely plausible that they would fall under the category of Unique weapons. What sets them apart is not just their appearance, but also the distinctive sound effect reminiscent of the classic movies.
Beyond this point, details about the expansion remain scant. It’s uncertain how, or even if, Destiny 2 will intertwine with the Star Wars universe beyond incorporating some famous landmarks, artifacts, and outfits that echo iconic characters from the series. Regardless of whether Darth Vader might be involved in the narrative, it has been confirmed that his armor can be acquired.
Embrace the dark allure that echoes through the cosmos with Star Wars-inspired Dark Side armor adornments for your Hunter, Titan, and Warlock characters in Destiny 2.

In other words, the short scene towards the end of the trailer hints that you’ll have an opportunity to acquire a genuine podracer, which serves as the model for many of the vehicles in Destiny 2.
The Edge of Fate expansion, a major paid update for Destiny 2, was announced along with it and will arrive on July 15. Unfortunately, Renegades, another paid expansion, won’t be available until December 2. So, Star Wars enthusiasts will have to exercise patience as they await the opportunity to wield their own Lightsaber.
