Destiny 2: Ignore This Pointless Tower Buff!

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the yearly Guardian Games extravaganza in Destiny 2 made its grand return to The Tower on March 4th! You might’ve spotted an intriguing bonus when depositing Medals with Eva Levante – it’s something unusual, isn’t it?

In keeping with past events, Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters can earn different grades of Medallions – ranging from Bronze to Diamond – by completing Ritual tasks as well as special modes called Supremacy and Rushdown.

Placing medals in the Tower’s safe enhances your social status and personal reputation, which in turn influences the unique bonus you receive in Destiny 2, known as the Best in Tower effect.

In simpler terms, showing off your medals at the Tower helps boost your standing among other players and grants you a special perk within Destiny 2.

What does the Best in Tower buff do & how do you get it?

Put simply, the Best in Tower buff recognizes the single Guardian with the highest personal Guardian Games score of any player in that individual instance of the Tower social space.

Any Guardian recognized as the best among their peers will be hard to miss – they’ll be sporting a unique glow and leave behind a blue trail of light whenever they move. It’s worth noting that this is purely a cosmetic-only buff, intended to give players with the highest Guardian Games score bragging rights.

The Best in Tower buff is awarded to the Guardian with the highest event score in that instance.

Want to be in with a chance to be recognised as the Best in Tower? The absolute best way to do so is by depositing high-grade Medals and completing weekly Rushdown and Supremacy quests to obtain the highest score possible. These will put you on the right path, but probably won’t give enough points on their own.

That’s where Contender Cards come into play. These Bounties are given out by Eva and award Medals of varying rarities. The harder a Bounty’s objective, the greater its payout. If possible, you’ll want to take the weekly Diamond Contender Card, which requires completing any Raid with a full Fireteam of the same class.

Repeating the above as much as possible will not only increase your chances of being recognized as the Best in Tower, but score you some excellent loot along the way, including the new Keraunios Trace Rifle and returning weapons with refreshed perk pools, such as The Title.
