Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 Adds New Boss Rush Mode, Rushdown

Starting in 2020, Destiny 2 has pitted its three Guardian classes (Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters) against each other during the annual Guardian Games to decide who rules for a year. The upcoming 2025 Guardian Games kick off on March 11 with some modifications. This year’s event will not include Guardian Games Nightfalls or Focused Activities; instead, it introduces a new boss rush mode called Rushdown, which promises to challenge even the most experienced Destiny 2 players.

Bungie has disclosed the specifics for this year’s Guardian Games, shedding light on how Rushdown will operate. In essence, Rushdown will gather bosses from various campaigns, seasonal story missions, and exotic missions for challenging battles that escalate in difficulty as you progress. Each Rushdown session includes five boss fights, with the objective being to conquer them all before the time runs out. For every boss defeated, extra time is added to the clock. Teams that complete the challenge more swiftly have a greater chance of receiving high-quality rewards.

Rushdown features warm-up, regular, and expert levels, with the latter two incorporating combatants featuring modifiers and offering revive tokens to players. However, a higher score is awarded when fewer revive tokens are utilized. Each mode can be accessed through standard matchmaking, class-based matchmaking, and private team battles. Players will be assessed based on the number of bosses they conquer and their overall score.

As a gamer diving into Rushdown modes, completing three encounters during any given run grants me a guaranteed Guardians Game weapon. The scoring thresholds are broken down into five tiers: bronze, silver, gold, platinum, and diamond. Those who climb higher tiers in standard or expert mode will receive progressively better rewards. Notably, players excelling in expert mode can even lay their hands on fully Masterworked Guardian Games weapons.

To ensure my favored faction emerges triumphant in the thrilling Guardian Games, I need to join forces with fellow classmates and engage in PvP battles and various other activities to accumulate medallions. Once I’ve collected these medallions, I should head to the podium to contribute them towards the total points for my class. Every day during this event, winning classes will be announced, but it’s only when the Guardian Games conclude after three weeks of fierce competition that a single faction will be crowned the champion. As always, this victory will come with an exclusive event card (featuring an Exotic emote and sparrow) and the opportunity to earn The Champ as my in-game title.

Additionally, you’ll find a fresh collection of armor embellishments displayed higher up. You can acquire these ornaments not just by spending money but also through earning Silver or Bright Dust within Eververse.

Beyond this current occasion, Bungie has unveiled a fresh, temporary PvP mode titled Heavy Metal, set to launch during Heresy Act 3. This development will offer players an opportunity to control a Brig. Additionally, there’s an ongoing Rite of the Nine event designed for both experienced Destiny 2 veterans and novices.
