Destiny 2 Crowning Duologue God Roll Guide

As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent traversing the cosmos in Destiny 2, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia upon the return of the Crowning Duologue rocket launcher during this year’s Solstice of Heroes event. This weapon has been a staple in my arsenal for many a battle against the darkness, and its refreshed perks for 2021 have only served to enhance its potential for devastation.

The iconic Crowning Duologue Rocket Launcher is back in the Solstice of Heroes event in Destiny 2 this year, but in an unexpected new version. Similar to other weapons exclusive to the summertime event, the Crowning Duologue has been updated with fresh perks this season, and some of these are particularly powerful for causing significant damage in PvE encounters. Although the Crowning Duologue may not displace your preferred rocket launchers like Apex Predator, it can serve as a useful alternative for specific builds or to capitalize on Strand surges during certain events.

Here’s how you can get Crowning Duologue and the god roll perk combinations you’ll want to chase.

How To Get Crowning Duologue

During the Solstice of Heroes event, there are four special weapons that can be obtained, and one of them is called Crowning Duologue, which happens to include a rocket launcher. To acquire this weapon or multiple versions of it, participating in the Bonfire Bash event during Solstice would be your best bet as it drops various Solstice weapons at random based on your performance. Additionally, you may also get Crowning Duologue from Solstice packages, completing Solstice bounties, or through the Solstice event card; however, these methods are less consistent compared to farming Bonfire Bash.

Crowning Duologue PvE God Roll

  • Barrel: Volatile Launch
    • +15 Blast Radius, -5 Velocity, -5 Handling
  • Magazine: Alloy Casing
    • +30 Reload Speed, -10 Stability
  • First Perk: Reconstruction
    • This weapon slowly reloads itself over time, up to double capacity.
  • Second Perk: Bait and Switch
    • Deal damage with all equipped weapons within a short time to give this weapon a damage boost.
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

As a gamer, I’ve found that when I want to inflict damage with Crowning Duologue, the ideal perk combination is Reconstruction and Bait and Switch. Reconstruction, much like Auto-Loading Holster, doubles your rocket magazine capacity, and Bait and Switch grants a substantial damage increase if you swiftly fire off a shot with each weapon before switching to your rocket, dealing hefty blows to bosses. For other situations, prioritize reload speed to get more rockets at lightning-fast speeds, ensuring continuous firing. This combo can turn Crowning Duologue into a formidable DPS weapon. However, due to its archetype, it may not outshine some of the current top-tier meta rockets, such as Apex Predator. Nevertheless, this is a solid option for dealing Strand damage when necessary.

As a fan, I’d like to suggest an exciting twist for my loadout: Swap out Crowning Duologue for a combo of Chain Reaction and Hatchling instead. Instead of focusing on dealing damage, this new setup will help clear enemies more efficiently. Chain Reaction is a blast (pun intended) since it can obliterate multiple aliens at once! Plus, with Hatchling, every kill you make will spawn additional Threadlines for even more carnage. To maximize the effectiveness of this loadout, focus on boosting your Blast Radius to ensnare as many extraterrestrials as possible in your explosions.

Crowning Duologue PvP God Roll

  • Barrel: Volatile Launch
    • +15 Blast Radius, -5 Velocity, -5 Handling
  • Magazine: High Velocity Rounds
    • +10 Velocity, +10 Reload Speed
  • First Perk: Hatchling / Impulse Amplifier
    • Hatchling: Precision final blows or rapidly defeating targets with this weapon spawns a Threadling at the target’s location.
    • Impulse Amplifier: Massively increases projectile velocity, increases reload speed.
  • Second Perk: Cluster Bomb / Chain Reaction
    • Cluster Bomb: Rockets spawn cluster bombs upon generation.
    • Chain Reaction: Each final blow with this weapon creates an elemental damage explosion.
  • Masterwork: Blast Radius

In player versus player (PvP) scenarios, rockets primarily gain effectiveness through their blast radius and speed: The blast radius allows for a larger explosion to hit multiple targets, and the speed ensures quick arrival at the target, making it harder to dodge. Perks like Crowning Duologue can significantly boost the blast radius, but be mindful of the speed stat if you’re aiming for a PvP build. Hatchling and Cluster Bomb or Chain Reaction work well together here; Chain Reaction expands the blast size when enemies are hit within it (though it requires actually hitting opponents), while Cluster Bomb increases the number of bombs in the explosion area. If you manage to eliminate more than one Guardian with a single rocket, which is the goal, Hatchling rewards you by creating a Threadling to pursue additional enemies.

If your rockets aren’t reaching their targets fast enough to destroy them or if they’re frequently missing, you might want to think about using Impulse Amplifier. This perk significantly boosts the speed of your rockets, as having a powerful blast is less effective when your rockets are too sluggish.
