Dept Q Season 2 might not happen, but there’s an alternative

Viewers can’t get enough of the latest Netflix show, Department Q. Though a third season might not be certain, an alternative method to maintain that gripping suspense is available.

Despite having to endure a lengthy wait for upcoming seasons of Stranger Things and Wednesday, Netflix has certainly not skimped on delivering fresh thrillers. The series Departments Q revolves around Carl, a once highly-regarded detective, who is tormented by guilt after an incident that left his partner paralyzed and another officer dead.

Upon getting back to my gaming setup, I was tasked with delving into an unsolved mystery that seemed to swallow entire days. This digital detective work has been labeled as grueling, gritty, and eerie by initial feedback, despite some technical glitches (hopefully, those are now a thing of the past).

If you’ve watched all the latest episodes, it just means we need to be patient until we hear about Season 2, right? But maybe there’s another option for re-living the experience – if you know the right places to find it.

Has Netflix renewed Dept Q for Season 2?

At the moment, it’s uncertain if Department Q will have a second season, since there hasn’t been any announcement yet. However, because it wasn’t initially labeled as a miniseries, some viewers are puzzled about whether new installments will be produced in the future.

If you’ve watched all eight of the episodes, you’d be aware that the second last one uncovered the identities of those involved in Merritt’s abduction (we’re keeping spoilers at bay here). In our concluding scene, Hardy made his way back to the department, now mobile with crutches under his arms.

Moira shared with him that he had a file for his review, leading her to subsequently meet up with Morck, Akram, and Rose downstairs. This single incident hints at the possibility of another season’s worth of storytelling.

Following the debut of Season 1, leading actor Matthew Goode conveyed his eagerness to carry on with the show, expressing optimism by stating “that’s the plan” to Yahoo UK.

Recently, I suggested to Scott that for Season 2, we should definitely include it, and we need to arrange eight weeks of Krav Maga training for Alexej. This is so the fight scenes in Season 2 will be spectacular. In essence, it’s going to be akin to a Syrian version of Bourne.

Chloe Pirrie, a fellow cast member, expressed her desire to see more by stating, “I’d be thrilled to witness more. As I watched the episodes, I found myself feeling that these characters were delightful companions – particularly for me, as there was so much action I wasn’t privy to, since I was off doing my own thing.

I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters on-screen and I can’t help but wish I could spend more time with them. They are just fantastic, and I would personally love to see more of their adventures, even though I’m already a part of it! However, I believe we should keep exploring their journey together, I want to witness more of their teamwork.

How to watch the original Department Q movies

Yet, it’s worth noting that there’s another route. The Dept. Q series is derived from a book series penned by Jussi Adler-Olsen. Earlier, these books were transformed into Department Q movies between 2013 and 2024. Further adaptations are anticipated to commence in 2026.
