On Thursday, Samuel L. Jackson was celebrated at the 2024 Film Benefit held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Let’s keep in mind its ability to transform lives and motivate future generations who will benefit from MoMA’s acquisition and conservation of films that fueled the aspirations of a young Black child in a segregated Tennessee movie theater, now standing before us. The gala was jointly organized with Chanel, where tributes were paid by Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Walton Goggins, Kenny Leon, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Rajendra Roy (MoMA’s chief curator of film), as well as pre-recorded messages from Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, and George Lucas.
The evening closed with a performance by Grammy winner TEMS, who was introduced by actress Danielle Deadwyler.
