As a seasoned moviegoer who has witnessed the political landscape unfold like a dramatic blockbuster since the dawn of time, I must say that this year’s Democratic National Convention is shaping up to be a riveting sequel. With Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden taking center stage on the first night, it’s reminiscent of a star-studded reunion, albeit one with a heavy dose of political intrigue.
20 million people watched the Democratic National Convention on various channels, as reported by Nielsen, on Monday.
As a movie buff, I’d say that the opening night of the Democratic National Convention outshone each of the first three nights of the Republican National Convention last month in terms of viewership. The initial nights garnered about 18.1 million, 14.8 million, and 18 million viewers respectively. In stark contrast, the final night, which included a speech from Donald Trump, averaged an impressive 25.4 million viewers and peaked at 28.4 million.
Nielsen’s calculation factors in broadcasts from ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, Univision, CNN, CNNE, FOX Business, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation, and PBS. In simpler terms, it takes into account data from all these television networks.
As someone who has attended numerous conventions throughout my career, I must say that this year’s event in Chicago is truly exceptional. The fact that it will feature speeches from political heavyweights like Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden on the first night alone makes it a must-attend event for anyone interested in politics. Having had the opportunity to meet and listen to these esteemed figures in the past, I can confidently say that their insights and experiences are invaluable, and I eagerly anticipate hearing their perspectives at this year’s convention.
“In her speech, Hillary Clinton pointed out that Donald Trump dozed off during his own trial, and if he were to run for president again, he would be the first with 34 felony convictions. Regarding presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, Clinton emphasized that she will never write affectionate letters to dictators. She urged us not to let our efforts falter, even when polls suggest otherwise. We must stand firm in pursuit of the truth and support Kamala, who will do the same for us. In her words, it’s still a community effort to nurture families, heal a nation, and win an election.”
