I truly admire Demi Moore for her unwavering dedication and resilience. In the 90s, when societal expectations were often harsh and unforgiving, she pushed herself to the limit in pursuit of excellence. The fact that she biked a staggering 60 miles every day during the filming of “Indecent Proposal,” all while caring for her newborn, is nothing short of remarkable.

In an interview with CBS’ “Sunday Morning”, Demi Moore shared that she cycled approximately 60 miles daily while filming her 1993 erotic thriller “Indecent Proposal”. This intense exercise regimen was adopted to shed weight before the movie shoot, following the birth of her daughter Scout Willis in the previous year. The film, helmed by Adrian Lyne and featuring Robert Redford as a co-star, was shot in 1992.

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I’ve often found myself under immense self-imposed pressure. I’ve encountered instances where advice to shed pounds was given, which I must admit, were not only awkward but deeply humiliating. However, the source of my distress wasn’t merely external; it was primarily my own response to such suggestions.

During the shooting of “Indecent Proposal” at Paramount Pictures studio in Hollywood, Moore resided in Malibu. Instead of commuting by car, she opted to cycle to and from the set every day as a means of shedding pounds. This daily routine added up to approximately 60 miles each way.

Moore mentioned that Scout was around five or six months old during filming. He would often feed her at night, wake up in the dark with a trainer who had a headlamp, bike to Paramount, and even do this on location while shooting. A typical workday was 12 hours long, but he’d start all over again after that.

She remarked, “The mere concept of what I put my body through seems so unbelievable, so absurd.” She continued, “Yet, when I reflect on it, I find myself wondering, ‘Was it truly significant?’ Likely not. However, at the moment, it felt like everything.

Moore has been actively promoting her latest movie, “The Substance,” which recently earned the best screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival. She previously played a role in “Indecent Proposal” where her marriage was challenged when a stranger proposed a deal of a million dollars for one night with her; Woody Harrelson was her co-star in this film. Despite generally unfavorable reviews, it became the sixth highest-earning movie of 1993, grossing $266 million globally.
