Deltarune Chapter 4 Secret Boss Guide

If you’ve successfully defeated the Secret Boss in Chapter 3 and are seeking guidance to reach the fight for Chapter 4, you’re in luck! Unlike some challenging levels with S ranks or symbolic references to isolation using 8-bit game imagery, this task is quite straightforward. You’ll need to retrace your steps a bit, so let’s embark on this journey together.

To access the hidden boss battle, you’ll first need to gather three sets of sheet music. These sheets are found in the old man’s study, where there’s a golden piano. Once you have the music sheets and solve the puzzle by playing them on the piano, you’ll unlock the secret boss fight.

To obtain the necessary music sheets and complete the piano challenge, you’ll require some climbing tools, which you’ll receive after defeating Jackenstein in a standard game progression. Rest assured, this isn’t a challenging battle and it won’t consume too much of your time to proceed. Once you’ve acquired the tools, we can concentrate on our quest for the music sheets.

In this tutorial, you’ll discover where all the music scores and musical notations are situated towards the conclusion. Feel free to navigate through the guide to locate the scores on your own, enjoying some engaging narrative elements along the way, or alternatively, you can jump straight to the end and input the piano puzzle’s notes directly.

Music Sheet 1

As a gamer, I’ll rewind my steps from where we left off. Instead of the old man’s study room, you’ll be heading down the previous path, then making a right until you spot a room equipped with a stool.

Once you get to this screen, proceed by turning left continuously, and keep heading left, until you spot a wall that you can climb.

You’ll ascend and solve a climbing riddle to get to a water barrel. There’s no effect from interacting with the barrel itself, but stepping back will trigger a mini-boss encounter.

The watercooler from Chapter 3 makes a grand return.

In essence, the majority of its moves are similar to Chapter 3, but a fresh maneuver has been introduced that caught players off guard. The battle isn’t particularly challenging; it involves conversing and flirting with it, followed by having Ralsei nuzzle it until it calms down. Once you win the fight, you will be rewarded with your first music sheet.

Music Sheet 2

On your return journey, head towards the room containing the chair. This time, turn left instead. Continue past the initial row of colored glass windows until you spot the first wall that you can ascend.

Once you reach the summit, you’ll encounter a puzzling labyrinth shrouded in darkness. Finding your way through is quite straightforward; just listen for the echoes of your footsteps to guide you. In one corner of the chamber, you’ll spot a faint, yellow-tinted radiance. Upon engaging with this area, a hidden pathway to the north will open up, marked by a glowing switch on the ground. Just step onto it, and you’ll gain access to the second set of documents.

Music Sheet 3

From now on, we won’t need the room equipped with a stool for navigational purposes. Instead, we’ll revert to the old gentleman’s study for the final music sheet. You should go through the door located all the way to the left at the top of the study, and then make another left past the save point screen.

Following the common pathway, you’ll make another left turn, continuing till you come across a room filled with shifting books, where you’ll encounter a stunning waterfall. Unusually, there’s a concealed door tucked behind this waterfall, typical in game-design, which will guide you through another labyrinthine passage. Navigate the maze just as you did before, focusing on every yellow switch and visual cue until you spot a blue switch on the floor. Give it a step, and you’ll obtain the final musical score, thus the last set of musical notes.

I agree Susie.

Golden Piano Puzzle

The final piece of the piano mystery is referred to as “The Golden Piano“. To return to the save point’s location, you’ll need to retrace your steps. Once there, move towards the rightmost wall and start ascending. Continue climbing until you reach the piano. At this point, you’ll need to enter the notes in sequence to open the Secret Boss room. Previously mentioned, you can bypass everything and directly input the notes since they remain unchanged. Here is the sequence of notes:

1. Middle C (C4)
2. A-sharp (A#)
3. F-sharp (F#)
4. G (G4)
5. B-flat (Bb)
6. E (E4)
7. D (D4)
8. Middle C (C4) again
9. A-flat (Ab)
10. F (F3)
11. G-sharp (G#)
12. A (A4)
13. B (B3)
14. C (C5)
15. D (D5)
16. E (E5)
17. F (F5)
18. G (G5)

Up, dot, up, left, down, dot, right, dot, right, down, left, dot

Following your successful piano performance, make your way towards the central foyer of the study below. Upon arrival, you’ll notice a recently opened room where the captivating tale of the Enchanted Axe is narrated. To proceed, just step into this room, and engage in the epic boss battle that awaits you. As the game is relatively new and there are those who wish to avoid spoilers, we won’t disclose the details of the boss fight for now. However, without revealing the specifics of the battle, you will acquire the Enchanted Axe and another Shadow Crystal upon victory.

What Are Shadow Crystals?

The Shadow Crystals are items you acquire by overcoming hidden enemies, and currently, they don’t serve any immediate purpose but raise intriguing questions. In the Dark World, employing one allows Kris to examine the shard and witness the light world in its original form. For instance, using a Shadow Crystal in the Cyber World will reveal a typical computer lab. This leads us to speculate that these Shadow Crystals might serve as a reflection of the “real world” that exists beyond the fantastical escape Kris may have created for themselves as a means to evade the harshness of actuality.

The significance of this theory lies in the Glass artifact from the Luminous realm. If Kris examines it and peers into it as they would with the Shadow Crystal, they don’t perceive anything unusual. Given that they are currently in the actual world, there is no requirement for them to revert back to reality by gazing through shadow crystals. This fact is corroborated at the start of Chapter 3 by Ralsei, who explains that everything within the Dark World is merely an illusion representing its true-world counterpart.

As a gamer, I can’t help but ponder about Ralsei, who seems to be an embodiment of Asriel, my game character who vanished when he went off to college, leaving his younger brother in a fractured family. It’s not too far-fetched to imagine that Ralsei might have emerged from the deep yearning for affection within me, as the one who could offer such warmth is now absent.

How Many Endings Does Deltarune Have?

As stated by Toby “TOUHOU Project” Fox, it’s been confirmed that Deltarune will only have a single conclusion, leaving many fans, including myself, puzzled. Even setting aside the various endings in Undertale, and solely examining Deltarune, there are numerous points where the story branches, such as the Snowgrave route.

In Chapter 2, you have an option to take a more ominous path where the character Kris, or the player guiding Kris, influences party members and as a result, Berdly ends up being admitted to the hospital. If the game is continued from your snowgrave save files in subsequent chapters, you’ll find Berdly lying unconscious in a hospital bed.

Apart from what’s already happening, there’s also a covert interplay between Kris and Noelle that becomes evident earlier in Chapter 4. Before Noelle requested a private chat with Kris, they subtly concealed their emotions upon departing to speak with Noelle. The player stumbles upon them conversing in a room, taking control of the discussion as well as Kris themselves to maintain the ominous path. This scenario is eerie and disconcerting, leaving us puzzled about how it could possibly lead to the same conclusion as the standard route.

Some people think the Snowgrave path might be just a figment of Kris’s imagination, but it appears too unrealistic at this point. Let’s keep an open mind and see what future chapters reveal.

Will Deltarune Chapters 5-7 be free?

After buying Deltarune, you’ll be able to access all future chapters at no additional cost. It is highly probable that Chapter 5 will drop in the first three months of 2026, which means you won’t need to endure long waits for subsequent story installments.
