In the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, it was announced that Deltarune is among the future games designed for Nintendo’s upcoming console. Previously, Deltarune has been distributed in segments, and now for the first time, information about Chapters 3 and 4 has been disclosed.
The first four chapters of Deltarune are set to debut alongside the release of the Switch 2. Contrary to some assumptions, Chapters 3 and 4 won’t be exclusive to the new Switch model. Instead, they will also be accessible on the standard Switch, Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Deltarune, the role-playing game from Undertale’s creator, Toby Fox, introduces a universe mirroring that of Undertale. The lead character, Kris, is at the center of memorable characters like Susie, who was once a bully but becomes an ally, and Ralsei, a gentle mage. Launched on Halloween, October 31, 2018, it initially presented Chapter 1 as a free demo. Later, on September 17, 2021, Toby Fox unveiled Chapter 2 to our delight.
In light of the challenging times we’ve all been facing, I opted to make DELTARUNE Chapter 2 available for free as indicated in the Deltarune September 2021 update. Toby followed up with another Deltarune update approximately one year later in September 2022.
The game Deltarune remains incomplete, yet its narrative and gameplay have garnered high praise from fans. The revelation of an additional pathway, known as the “Snowgrave Route,” came about in Chapter 2. At present, it’s uncertain if there are more than two such paths, but Chapters 3 and 4 offer exciting possibilities to learn more about this intriguing development.
Deltarune will be available on June 5, 2025 as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2.
