Delroy Lindo was eager to assist Marvel with the much-anticipated “Blade” reboot, but things took a turn for the worse.
During a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, Lindo, previously linked to the Marvel remake, shared insights about the challenges slowing down the progress of the much-anticipated vampire movie that’s been facing delays.
Lindo shared that when Marvel approached him, they showed genuine curiosity about his ideas. During discussions with producers, writers, and directors, it became clear that inclusivity was a priority. This was not only intriguing conceptually but also promising in terms of character development. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, things took an unexpected turn.
He explained how the part he took in “Blade” could be compared to the character he portrayed in Ryan Coogler’s more recent work within the action-horror genre, titled “Sinners.”
Or
He described the similarities between the role he would have played in “Blade” and the character he acted out in Ryan Coogler’s latest contribution to the action-horror genre, “Sinners.”
Or
He detailed the connection between the part he might have had in “Blade” and the character he embodied in Ryan Coogler’s recent action-horror production, “Sinners.
He noted that while this individual might not have been strictly following Garvey’s teachings, there were strong parallels in their philosophies, values, and motivations. This person, like ‘Sinners,’ had built a community – specifically, a Black one. He was the leader of this community.
Back in 2019, I eagerly looked forward to the premiere of “Blade” on Nov. 7, 2025. But, to my surprise, in October 2024, this film was unexpectedly taken off Marvel’s release schedule entirely. Despite some changes like the departure of two directors and multiple screenwriters involved with the project, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige at D23 Brazil 2024 reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to seeing this project through.
Feige expressed his fondness for the character and Mahershala’s portrayal of it at the time. He also promised transparency: whenever there are changes in a project or uncertainties about its schedule, he ensures the audience is kept informed. As of now, you’re all caught up on the latest developments. However, I can confirm that the character will undoubtedly appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
