Dekanalog Acquires ‘Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait,’ ‘Redlands’ and ‘Wetiko’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Dekanalog, a distributor located in New York City, has recently made three new purchases for its 2025 theatrical lineup: “Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait” directed by Khyentse Norbu, “Redlands” directed by John Brian King, and “Wetiko” directed by Kerry Mondragon.

The movies will initially be shown only in a few cinemas, followed by their availability for video-on-demand and sales of physical copies.

It’s a dream come true for our entire team to be releasing this exceptional trio of films in movie theaters this year, as expressed by Lysa Le, one of the company’s co-founders, in her statement.

The film titled “Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait” was first shown at the Locarno Film Festival in 2016, and later played at the Toronto International Film Festival where it received an honorable mention for the Platform Prize. Set in a Bhutanese forest, this movie portrays a gathering that takes place every twelve years, featuring individuals adorned with masks. A review by EbMaster remarked that “the forest setting, captured in Bhutan’s southeast, is beautifully enchanting at times, bathed in sunlight, and ominously foreboding at others.

“Redlands” is a 2014 movie that follows the intertwined stories of three residents from Redlands, California: a model, her partner, and a photographer. On the other hand, “Wetiko,” a film released in 2022, revolves around a Maya man transporting hallucinogenic toads in the jungle who gets entangled in a conflict between two factions – the Mayas and an external Western group.

As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Dekanalog has plans to unveil their latest masterpiece, “Blue Sun Palace,” in movie theaters nationwide from April through May of 2025. The anticipation is palpable!
