As a long-time devotee of daytime television, I must say that the news of Deborah Norville hosting “The Perfect Line” has me more than just a little excited! With her extensive journalistic background and knack for engaging audiences, she’s sure to make this trivia game show a hit.
Deborah Norville, anchor of “Inside Edition”, is all set to participate in some exciting games. It’s been learned that she has agreed to host “The Pefect Line”, a new game show produced by CBS Media Ventures, which they plan to offer to various broadcasters within the next year.
It’s been reported, though CBS Media Ventures hasn’t confirmed, that a pilot for “The Perfect Line” was filmed in August. There are rumors that they plan to debut the series in the autumn of 2025. Given that CBS Media Ventures is also responsible for the syndicated gaming show “The Flip Side,” hosted by Jaleel White (which made its debut this fall), there’s a possibility that “The Perfect Line” could be paired with it as a companion program.
Insiders claim that “The Perfect Line” is a trivia game where questions span various subjects like world events, pop culture, sports, science, and more. In each round, contestants are presented with a specific category and must organize items, people, or events in sequence – for example, placing six actors in the order of their global box office earnings. The objective is to form “the perfect line” correctly, avoiding elimination after every round. The last player remaining gets to compete in a final round for a potential prize of $10,000.
In January, following CBS Media Venton’s approval of “The Flip Side,” Wendy McMahon, CEO of CBS News and Stations as well as CBS Media Ventures, stated that game shows have been thriving in syndication and network prime-time for the past few years. She emphasized that these programs draw more frequent viewings per week than any other genre due to their dedicated audience.
Indeed, EbMaster has shared some interesting insights from Nielsen’s data. In September 9 to October 6, 2024, “Wheel of Fortune,” a show distributed domestically by CBS Media Ventures, attracted an average of 7.99 million viewers during its premiere month. When you exclude sports and news programs from the equation, it turns out that more people tuned in to watch “Wheel” than any other linear TV entertainment program.
Speaking about Norville, he’s been hosting “Inside Edition” for CBS Media Ventures (and its previous entities) since 1995.
