Death Stranding 2 Release Date Is Known, Here's When It Will Be Announced

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for the enigmatic and unconventional, I find myself both intrigued and slightly exasperated by Hideo Kojima’s latest tease regarding Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Having been a fervent fan since Metal Gear Solid days, I’ve grown accustomed to the elusive nature of Kojima’s release dates, but this one seems to be taking the cake.

At the Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima and his team from Kojima Productions revealed a plethora of fresh footage and information about Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Moreover, Kojima mentioned that he is aware of the game’s launch date. Regrettably for enthusiasts, however, he won’t disclose it until the year 2025.

He mentioned during TGS (The Game Show) through VGC’s report that although he didn’t disclose the release date today, it has already been determined and he’s now working on it to get ready for its launch. He assured us that we’ll find out about the Death Stranding 2 release date at some point in 2025.

He mentioned that because of some unexpected events, we won’t be able to make the announcement right now, without providing any further details about the nature of these events.

Kojima has a close friendship with Geoff Keighley, known for organizing The Game Awards annually in December. Some had hoped that Kojima might unveil the game’s launch date at this event, but it appears that won’t happen, although circumstances can always shift. Initially, the game was set to release in 2025, but plans may have changed.

Death Stranding 2 will only be available for PlayStation consoles due to Kojima’s partnership with the company. Furthermore, Kojima Productions is developing a Death Stranding movie in collaboration with A24, as well as other games such as OD, which will be exclusive to Xbox, and Physint, an espionage game.

2019 saw the release of Death Stranding, a game that sparked strong opinions. It’s an unusual exploration into extinction, bolstered by the acting talents of celebrities like Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen. In a similar vein, its upcoming sequel appears just as distinctive and peculiar. You can catch a glimpse of the latest gameplay in the video above.
