Death Stranding 2 Boss Fights Aren’t Just Skippable–They’re Also Readable

In Death Stranding, the boss battles were rather straightforward, and for its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, gamers have the option to bypass these encounters altogether. Recently, in an interview, game director Hideo Kojima discussed a fresh element in the game where players can opt out of challenging boss fights if they prove too difficult, instead opting to learn about them through reading.

As per Genki_JPN’s translation, shared through Dexerto, Kojima clarified during the Koji10 radio broadcast that an additional choice will appear on the game over screen beneath the ‘continue’ option. This option allows players to bypass certain sections and read about the climactic encounter instead.

In Death Stranding, the boss fights weren’t particularly difficult if you had the right equipment selection. The main character, Sam Porter Bridges, accumulated an impressive assortment of weapons throughout the game to combat the BT entities, which were dangerous due to their ability to weaponize bodily fluids. Towards the end of the game, a powerful rocket launcher was made available to destroy colossal BTs similar in size to kaiju.

In the latest previews for Death Stranding 2, it appears that the magnitude of the boss battles will be amplified. One of the newly shown BTs resembles a massive, knotted hand capable of outpacing Sam, while in another instance, Heartman encounters an enormous BT reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex mecha by merging another BT with the DHV Magellan submersible. Given that Death Stranding 2 includes a character similar to Solid Snake, it’s not too shocking to spot allusions to Metal Gear Solid in a game directed by Hideo Kojima.

In a new development, Death Stranding 2: On the Shore is set to release on June 24 exclusively for PlayStation 5. It appears that the director for the live-action film adaptation of this post-apocalyptic franchise might have been selected.
