‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Unveils Lady Deadpool’s Full Look and Dafne Keen’s Return in Final Trailer: The ‘Logan’ Reunion Fans Have Waited for Is Here

I’m thrilled to see Dafne Keen reprising her role as X-23 in “Deadpool & Wolverine”! I was a huge fan of her performance in “Logan,” and I couldn’t believe it when I heard she might not be returning for this new film. But just as the final trailer dropped, Entertainment Weekly published an interview with Dafne where she revealed the big surprise – she had indeed returned to the set!

The last trailer from Marvel Studios for “Deadpool & Wolverine” has revealed two major surprises. Firstly, Lady Deadpool is set to make an appearance in the film alongside numerous other versions of Deadpool. While hints about Lady Deadpool’s inclusion had been dropped in previous trailers, this final one offers the first proper look at the character. Fans are now left guessing which actor dons the mask (could it be Blake Lively or Taylor Swift?).

In the climax of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Dafne Keen makes a surprising entrance, recalling her striking performance as the young mutant X-23 in “Logan” (2017), where she starred alongside Hugh Jackman as the iconic X-Men character. Initially, “Logan” was slated to be Jackman’s final portrayal of Wolverine; however, he eventually agreed to reprise his role for the new “Deadpool” production. Jackman emphasized that this version of Wolverine is distinct from the one who met his end in “Logan,” leaving it uncertain if Keen would indeed join the cast.

In an interview during the promotion for “The Acolyte,” Keen shared that she wouldn’t be appearing in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” She went as far as expressing her disappointment to On Demand Entertainment on the red carpet about missing the opportunity to work with Jackman again.

“I’m certainly going to feel sad about it. I have affection for Hugh, Ryan (Reynolds), and Shawn (Levy). I’m eager to discover what they’ve produced. I firmly believe that Shawn is an exceptional director at the moment. Undeniably, Ryan is a legend. It would have been fantastic if I could be involved, but instead, I’ll simply watch it as a spectator, cheering on my old friend.”

At the same time that the last “Deadpool & Wolverine” trailer went live online, Keen spoke to Entertainment Weekly about reprising her role as X-23 in their interview.

“According to Keen, all the ideas for misleading the media came from Andrew Garfield. He’s a pro at it, having often deceived about his return as Spider-Man before the premiere of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ “

When Keen’s agent called with the exciting news that she was requested to reprise her role as X-23, she reacted instantly with a loud scream. She exclaimed, “I accidentally dropped my phone into the bathwater just then. I had to dry it out in rice, quite an ordeal. Frankly, I was taken aback. I wondered if I would even remember how to portray her anymore; she no longer felt like a part of me.”

The actor ended up rewatching “Logan” before filming her “Deadpool & Wolverine” scenes.

“When they announced ‘Action!’ it felt like no time had passed since filming Logan. It was as if the past eight years hadn’t happened for me,” Keen explained.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” opens in theaters July 26. Watch the final trailer in the video below.
