‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Racks Up 19.4 Million Views in First Six Days on Streaming, Disney Says

As a film enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the streaming debut of “Deadpool & Wolverine” has left me utterly amazed! It’s not every day that we witness such an impressive global viewership for a Marvel Studios film, especially one as action-packed and humorous as this one. The fact that it surpassed even the mighty “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is truly commendable.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” got off to a strong start in its streaming debut.

According to Disney, the Marvel Studios movie garnered a global viewership of 19.4 million after just six days on their streaming platform (a view is calculated as total watch time divided by runtime), with its debut on Disney+ happening on November 12th. This makes it the most-watched live action film on either Disney+ or Hulu since the release of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in early 2023.

Reflecting on this, I was astounded to learn that “Inside Out 2” racked up a staggering 30.5 million views within just the initial five days of its release on Disney+.

In July 2024, the movie starring Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters. This film was significant because it introduced Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and brought back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine following his departure from the character in “Logan” (2017). In this story, Deadpool discovers that the Time Variance Authority intends to destroy his universe. As a result, he joins forces with a Wolverine from another dimension within the multiverse to prevent its demise.

In addition, the movie brought back notable figures from past Marvel films such as Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade, Dafne Keen appearing again as X-23, Jennifer Garner taking on Elektra, and Chris Evans playing Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Channing Tatum finally joined the cast as Gambit for the first time. Emma Corrin starred in this film as the antagonist, Cassandra Nova.

The team-up of Deadpool and Wolverine turned out to be an enormous financial triumph, raking in more than $1.3 billion globally on a production budget estimated at just $200 million.
