‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Is U.K. Chain Odeon’s Biggest Box Office Since ‘Barbenheimer’ – Global Bulletin

‘DEADPOOL’ DRAWS DROVES

As a lifelong cinephile who’s seen more movies than I care to count, I must say that the box-office success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has left me utterly thrilled! The energy and excitement surrounding this film have reminded me of the days when I first fell in love with cinema. It’s refreshing to see such a unique and entertaining superhero duo taking over the screens, and I can’t wait to catch it on the big screen myself!

In a recent announcement, the U.K. and Ireland’s cinema chain Odeon shared that “Deadpool & Wolverine” has surpassed all other box office releases from the past year, including the sensational phenomenon of “Barbenheimer.” Over its debut weekend, around half a million viewers flocked to Odeon cinemas, setting it on track to become the highest-grossing opening film in the region this year.

In 2024, Odeon is rolling out a fresh family ticket promotion. This deal, extending their “adults pay child prices” offer, allows one adult and one kid to purchase tickets for as low as £10 ($12.85) at standard Odeon Cinemas and £15 ($19.25) at Odeon Luxe theaters. Additionally, there’s a significant interest in the limited “Deadpool & Wolverine” merchandise, with Deadpool keychains being a top seller.

As a movie enthusiast who grew up watching animated films, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when looking at this summer’s movie slate. From “Despicable Me 4” and “Inside Out 2,” which remind me of my own childhood, to “Twisters” and “Longlegs,” which seem like fresh and exciting new additions, I can’t wait to see what stories these movies will tell.

Suzie Welch, the managing director for U.K. and Ireland, stated: “Odeon offers something for everyone, and we’ve been astounded by the fantastic response from our audience to this summer’s blockbusters. Our unique merchandise deal tied to the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ film has also struck a chord with guests eager to bring a piece of the cinematic adventure home. With an array of thrilling new releases ahead in the second half of 2024, we can’t wait to invite even more guests to our cinemas to experience these captivating films as they were intended – on the big screen.”
