Deadpool & Wolverine Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

As a seasoned gamer with decades of comic book-inspired video games under my belt, I must say, the news about Deadpool & Wolverine crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office is nothing short of exhilarating! I’ve been following these characters since their humble beginnings in the 90s and to see them come this far is a dream come true. It’s like when I first booted up X-Men Legends back in the day, only to find out that Magneto and Wolverine were an unstoppable duo!

It was only a matter of time, and it finally came to pass: The Deadpool & Wolverine film featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has surpassed the $1 billion mark at global box offices. Following another strong weekend in cinemas, this Marvel production has grossed a total of $1.029 billion worldwide. North America accounted for $494.3 million of that total, while international markets contributed an impressive $535.1 million, as reported by Variety.

In 2024, the second film to surpass $1 billion in earnings was Inside Out 2, which falls under the Disney brand, similar to Deadpool and Wolverine movies.

It’s likely that movies featuring Deadpool and Wolverine will surpass The Joker’s 2019 box office earnings ($1.07 billion) to set a new record as the highest-grossing R-rated films ever made.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped up! Deadpool and Wolverine have just joined the elite club of earning over a billion dollars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), making them the 11th movie in the series to achieve this milestone. Not only that, but they also became the 31st Disney production overall to hit the $1 billion mark!

As a longtime fan of both Deadpool and The Avengers, I must admit that the idea of Robert Downey Jr. playing alongside these iconic characters was incredibly exciting. However, as someone who has followed the development of these films for years, it’s not surprising to me that those plans ultimately fell through. Hollywood is full of promising ideas that never come to fruition, and the film industry can be a fickle and unpredictable beast. Still, I can’t help but wonder what could have been if Downey Jr.’s version of Iron Man had crossed swords with Deadpool and Wolverine on the big screen. Ah well, at least we still have some amazing movies to look forward to in the future!

One movie that isn’t doing so hot at the box office is the Borderlands film. It opened this past weekend and is coming up way short so far at the box office to become one of 2024’s biggest box office bombs so far.
