The second movie in the superhero series, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman portraying their comic book personas, has earned a staggering $1.029 billion worldwide at the box office. In North America, it brought in $494.3 million, while internationally, it grossed $535.1 million. This puts it just behind Disney’s Pixar sequel “Inside Out 2,” which made $1.558 billion, as the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far, surpassing the billion-dollar mark.
As a movie enthusiast, I must say that this upcoming film is set to outshine 2019’s “Joker” ($1.07 billion), the only other R-rated movie to achieve the remarkable milestone of being the highest-grossing R-rated film in history. This new release will soon take its place at the top.
“The team-up of Deadpool and Wolverine has proven to be a much-needed success for Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, serving as a breath of fresh air amidst some missteps like Eternals, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Marvels.
