Deadpool Director Reveals The Vision For His Star Wars Movie And What He Wants To Avoid

As a long-time fan with a heart full of nostalgia for the galaxy far, far away, I can hardly contain my excitement about Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars movie! His passion and dedication to creating something truly original yet organic within the Star Wars universe is nothing short of inspiring.

Shawn Levy, who’s known for directing Deadpool and Wolverine, recently shared some insights about his upcoming Star Wars movie. In a recent chat, he expressed his intention to make this film unique compared to its predecessors. He particularly enjoys the way Star Wars stories often revolve around individuals bonding in extraordinary ways to serve something greater than themselves, and he aspires to capture that essence in his own production.

During an interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Levy expressed his desire for his Star Wars movie not to be a repetition of the others, and he doesn’t intend for his film to simply follow or supplement another Star Wars film that has been released or is yet to come.

“Levy stated that Star Wars films shouldn’t repeatedly rehash the same periods of the timeline. He’s not keen on creating a film that mirrors others or serves as a prequel/sequel. Instead, he aimed to develop something authentic and personally appealing in terms of tone and characters. For him, Star Wars is about the Force, our connection to something larger than ourselves, empowerment, visual appeal, and fulfilling wishes. These elements encapsulate what Star Wars means to him.”

Earlier, Levy expressed his enthusiasm for his Star Wars movie, stating, “I am pouring all my heart into it as I adore that universe, and it’s an honor to be part of that galaxy.”

As of now, no specific details regarding Levy’s Star Wars movie have been disclosed, neither about its plot nor where it fits into the franchise timeline or its scheduled release date in theaters. The upcoming Star Wars film, titled “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, is slated for release on May 22, 2026.

Fans of Star Wars may receive new updates shortly, as Disney’s D23 event kicks off on August 10th. Make sure to visit TopMob regularly for the latest news.
