‘Deadpool’ Actor Karan Soni Lands Lead Role in Andrew Sandler’s Thriller ‘Fade to Black’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate tapestry of the silver screen, I can confidently say that the casting for “Fade to Black” is nothing short of inspired. The ensemble assembled by Andrew Sandler for his narrative feature debut is a veritable who’s who of rising talent, each bringing their unique flair to this darkly comedic exploration of ambition and the brutal reality of Hollywood.

Actor Karan Soni, known for his roles in “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse,” has been chosen to play the main character in director Andrew Sandler’s forthcoming movie, titled “Fade to Black.

Soni teams up with co-stars Katerina Tannenbaum (from “Better Call Saul”), Max Carver (known for “The Batman”), Rafael Casal (“Loki”), Gavin Leatherwood (“It’s What’s Inside”), Joseph Lee (“Beef”), John Carroll Lynch (“American Horror Story”), and Zosia Mamet (“The Flight Attendant”) in the narrative film debut of Adam Sandler. Notably, Sandler has experience directing music videos for popular artists such as Blink-182, Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly, and Ariana Grande. Filming in Los Angeles is anticipated to commence in October.

According to the official summary, “Fade to Black” is about Amit (Soni), who struggles with the dark sides of attempting to break into Hollywood’s corrupt business. Following an unfortunate incident that triggers a chilling realization, the screenwriter resorts to enacting the murders of his script’s fictional serial killer in a frantic bid to create the intellectual property needed to produce his movie. The film offers a black comedy perspective on ambition, insanity, and the ruthless nature of the entertainment world.

I’m absolutely ecstatic! Working with this exceptional team of artists on my debut narrative feature film is a dream come true. Talent has breathed life into the material in such an exhilarating way, and I can hardly contain my excitement. Each member of our ensemble is infusing the project with their unique talents, enriching Brandon’s brilliant script even further. I can hardly wait to dive in and see what magical moments we create together!

Besides “A Nice Indian Boy,” “Safety Not Guaranteed,” “Paper Flowers,” and “Strange World,” Soni has also been featured in various films. Additionally, she has appeared on television series such as “Abbott Elementary,” “Miracle Workers,” and “The Boss Baby: Back in the Crib.

I recently came across an intriguing screenplay that caught my attention on The Black List site. This compelling story was penned by Danny Hamouie and Brent Craft. The production of this project is entrusted to Paul Scanlan and David Baxter, under the Legion M banner, in collaboration with Brent Craft, through Craftsmen Media Co. Additionally, Randall Einhorn, Danny Hamouie, and Jeff Annison have been appointed as executive producers. I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing this project unfold!
