Deadlock modder manages to bring classic Overwatch map into the game

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in both Overwatch and Deadlock, I can confidently say that this mod is a game-changer for me. The porting of the classic Overwatch map Ilios into Deadlock feels like a dream come true – it’s as if Santorini and MOBA have merged to create a gaming experience that perfectly caters to my eclectic tastes.

One Deadlock modder has brought The classic Overwatch map Ilios into the game and players are already excited.

Initially, Deadlock might seem similar to Overwatch 2 due to its diverse roster of characters each with unique skills. However, in terms of gameplay mechanics, it’s significantly distinct and intricate compared to Blizzard’s team-based shooter.

For some time, there’s been a tendency to compare the two, and if you’ve ever pondered what an Overwatch 2 map might appear as within the game, a modder has successfully brought this concept to life.

In a Reddit post, user Space_Bear87 has successfully transferred the original Ilios map into the game. Although the visuals and lighting have changed somewhat, it skillfully replicates the atmosphere of a Greek island reminiscent of Santorini, complete with rooftops and white structures.

Just like how Overwatch 2’s maps are designed, I find myself captivated by their symmetry, with the crucial control points strategically placed right smack in the center. From a distance, you can spot towering mountains, bobbing boats, and an intricate statue – these little details truly add to the map’s charm.

Currently, as Deadlock’s gameplay style is shifting towards Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) with multiple lanes, it might seem challenging to visualize how this map would suit such a change. Nevertheless, the map creator has shared that they intend to modify Overwatch maps to better fit Deadlock’s playstyle.

In the comments, it was mentioned that “Characters who are stuck (in a deadlock) can continue to purchase items, progress, and so on. However, they gain access to the latest game mode for play.

A significant number of viewers found themselves energized by this video, as they perceived a great deal of possibility within it. One participant even expressed greater enthusiasm for content created by the community, such as this video, rather than the game itself.

“Bepop hooks on Illios well gonna go crazy,” mentioned another.

“This is so impressive and well done, these will be amazing to have,” one said.

At present, Valve’s Deadlock is being developed during the alpha stage. Yet, despite this, it boasts a substantial number of players and a steadily expanding fanbase. It’s intriguing to speculate about the exciting new elements that might be introduced once the game is fully released.
