As a seasoned gamer with over three decades under my belt, I must say I’m thrilled about the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Having played the original back in ’06 when I was still rocking my Atari 2600, it’s heartening to see Capcom taking steps towards making games more inclusive and respectful. The removal of the “Erotica” category is a welcome change, especially considering we’re now in the era where even my grandkids know not to ogle at women without consent.
In the revamped Dead Rising Deluxe, players will no longer gain levels through capturing inappropriate images of female characters; instead, other methods of progression have been implemented.
As a dedicated fan, I was thrilled to learn from Famitsu that the upcoming version of Dead Rising is making a significant change in its photography mechanic – they’re getting rid of the “Erotica” category. In the original game, earning Prestige Points (PP) by taking photos in different categories was a fun part of the gameplay. These PP could then be used to enhance Frank’s abilities. Categories like “Horror” for shots with numerous zombies, or “Brutality” for images filled with gore and carnage, were always exciting to capture. However, the “Erotica” category, which focused on taking pictures of upskirts or cleavage, is being phased out, making the game more inclusive and enjoyable for a wider audience. I’m looking forward to this new version!
As a seasoned gamer who has been following the gaming industry for decades, I can confidently say that Capcom’s decision to remove their unnamed game was indeed a wise move, considering they have a new game slated for release in 2024. Having witnessed the evolution of the gaming world over the years, I can attest to the fact that such decisions are often made with careful consideration and a keen understanding of market trends. While it’s always disappointing to see a beloved title disappear from the horizon, I am optimistic about the future and eagerly await the release of their upcoming game.
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered version will be available for play on September 19 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. A physical release is planned for November as well. This updated version maintains the original gameplay dynamics but enhances it with contemporary features like automatic saving, refined controls, and a user-friendly interface upgrade.
