Dead by Daylight's Tomb Raider Update Introduces Game-Breaking Bugs

As a long-time Dead by Daylight (DBD) player with hundreds of hours under my belt, I can confidently say that this game is more than just another survival horror title. It’s a community, a passion project for both the developers and the players alike. With every new chapter release, my heart races in anticipation for the latest killer or survivor additions.

The recent 8.1.0 Tomb Raider update for Dead by Daylight introduces an intriguing mix of elements. On one hand, we’ve got the long-awaited addition of Lara Croft to the game. But on the other, this patch seems to have brought along a multitude of peculiar bugs that have left players amused and annoyed in equal measure.

An intriguing and relatively unusual glitch in Dead by Daylight arises when engaging with Albert Wesker, a widely favored killer in the game, who goes by the name The Mastermind. This particular issue manifests itself when Wesker employs his Bound ability to hurl survivors. Instead of being moved as intended, the survivors end up getting stuck in an awkward seated position, seemingly as if they’re operating a hidden vehicle.

You can see the Wesker bug for yourself in the clip just below:

When striking a vigorous survivor with Wesker’s Bound ability, they seem to imagine they’re driving a vehicle instead.

ScottJund, a popular Dead by Daylight YouTuber and streamer, playfully remarked, “The Wesker vehicle mode has returned,” as he pointed out several issues with the recent game update.

I was really excited for the latest Dead by Daylight patch, but oh boy, it seems to be plagued with issues. In my stream alone, I’ve encountered some frustrating bugs. For instance, Oppression doesn’t always work as intended, leaving killers without their crowd control perk. Additionally, using Dead Hard results in zero endurance after being unhooked. And get this – Wesker’s car mode is back, causing chaos on the map once more. I’m curious if you guys have encountered similar glitches or even found new ones while playing? Let’s compile and report them to help the dev team address these issues.

Jund brought up the issue that several benefits, such as Oppression and Dead Hard, become ineffective under specific conditions. Consequently, these advantages mostly lose their value. In the discussion, users shared clips demonstrating that survivors could finish generators even after the gates have been activated, an oversight that was present during the initial 1.0.0 game version.

Posted this earlier but just being able to do gens when gates are powered like it’s 1.0 again lmao

undeniably frustrating for killers is an issue linked to generators; this glitch causes the game to automatically finish an additional generator once a survivor has completed one. Consequentially, survivors may secure victories they wouldn’t have achieved otherwise, leaving killers at a disadvantage and unable to win.

In the past two instances, I have finished generating an idea immediately after my teammate did so.

Dead by Daylight addressed fan concerns about the Lara Croft update through a status update post on Twitter X, detailing the issues brought up by players and the planned resolution times. The developers plan to implement several fixes in the upcoming 8.1.0 update using hotfixes.
